First of all I wanna say I love this forum with the abundance of help and insight it provides!

I have a question regarding deposits for bookings? How many escorts do this and how many clients would get offended/turned off by this? Had a few people waste my time past month so leaning towards going this route..

For me, it isn't about being offended. It is about not wanting to send money to a stranger who may or may not honor his end of the bargain. In the end, it boils down to why clients should trust you when you don't trust your clients.

By the way - when I clicked on the link to your ad in the review rent.men displayed a "page not found" error. Then I clicked on the link within your signature and the ad using your current name displayed. There are a couple of issues with this:

  1. If someone tries to reach your ad from your review page they will be unable to do so.
  2. Many Forum members see a name change as a red flag. Name change + request for deposit <> successful advertising strategy

I require a 20% deposit for bookings over 4 hours. Thankfully i've never had a problem.

Recently for incalls to my personal home in Washington DC, I require them to send me a photo of their ID. I've never had problems and cancelations are very rare.

I don't know what happened in your situation so I can't give any good advice without further details.

PM if any more detailed questions.

yeah.. no. i will not send anyone a photo of my id.. ever.

id theft, fraud, etc etc

If somehow i end up doing it, it will be so heavily redacted and blacked out, you'd be lucky to see my face in it.. unless i redact that too :p

Normally information about people can be easily looked up. If people really wanted your information they know how to memorize your information easily, when someone checks your ID at a bar or club, when you rent a car (they take a copy), when you check into a hotel, when you rent a home (they take a copy), some retail and restaurants will check ID when you pay with credit card, when you get medically work done (they take a copy), when you use your insurance (they take a copy), at a spa (they take a copy) There is minimal oversight in almost all these situations. If someone really wanted your information they would.

Even my building stops and checks the ID of guests / nonresidents.

I believe for male providers there should be some more layers of verification. If you take our counter part female providers many of them require ID, TER verification, work email/LinkedIn, 2 references from other working providers. I don't blame them as it involves their safety, some may decide not to use verification and that is a decision they take.

My personal reason for ID when someone visits my home in DC; I want to know who is coming to my personal home that contains my personal life, personal information and my safety. Most likely a similar reason why many clients don't host in their personal home.

I wouldn't be offended, but I makes for yet another thing to organise, so I'd sigh, and if I'm extra horny would probably do a deposit. But since I usually only do incall, I don't see the point: I'll bring your money to your place anyway.

So most likely I would look for another escort.

I visited a guy last week who lives in a secured apartment building. The lobby concierge took my driver's license and scanned it into their computer system and then a "guard" physically accompanied me to the escort's floor.

I've never encountered that before was surprised. In retrospect, had I known that was going to happen I'm not sure I'd have taken the appointment.

It's a trade off: the escort's personal safety versus my privacy. If that had been a showstopper for me I could have requested he meet me in the lobby and walk me in as a guest... that doesn't seem unreasonable but everyone has their own threshold.

I'm not keen on someone retaining an electronic copy of my DL. I have no idea what is going to be done with my information, to whom it will be distributed and how long it will be retained. Best case is I start getting advertising junk mail. Worst case is that I write a negative review and my ID is then posted to his Facebook and I have a huge identity theft problem.

To play devil's advocate, is a fair compromise for both parties to exchange like copies of ID?

I have always been against Deposits. Have I been burned? Yes. Will I require a deposit for a lengthy trip with a new hire? Yes. I treat deposits on a case-by-case basis. I understand Deposots are a pain plus Cash is king. A deposit will likely rarely be in cash.
