Im in need of some guidance. I have received an out call request from a client for a 1 hr. appointment. We have agreed to have the round trip Uber cost covered. The distance is roughly an hour each way. I'm investing 3 hours of time for an hour of pay. Should I ask for a bit more to cover my travel time? This normally wouldn't be an issue except I have a large presence in this city and am typically fully booked. Thank you wonderful forum world:D

As a client (noting that this is an 'Ask an Escort' question) I would not be surprised to be asked for extra in those circumstances if your trip were from city centre to somewhere out in the suburbs, less so if it were in a city like LA that has a number of urban 'centres' where you could have been based. Whether you can ask in this case depends on how detailed your discussions have been and what implied promises you have made.

I'm not an escort yet but Im considering it because I have one client that I escort for...He usually comes to Beverly Hills, but sometimes he has me go to Newport beach which is an hour away. He covers my uber/lyft to go to Newport Beach in addition to the rate. I think he'll find it to be perfectly reasonable if you ask, in fact id be surprised if it hadn't already crossed his mind.

Does 'fully booked' mean you could see 2 or possibly 3 clients during this time? You are a business man. Why would you accept to be paid for a one hour appointment when you could see more clients during this time period? The answer is obvious. Except if this is a VIP client of sorts from whom you expect substantial business in the future ...

I usually charge 1/2 my rate for travel time, so in your case, with 2 hours of travel, I would charge for 2 hours total. In my case though, I would be driving, so there woukdnt be an additional Uber/Lyft charge. I usually express to clients, in these situations, that it might just make more financial sense for them to come to me.

Great answer. I try to be accommodate every client. I think realistically I'd lose out on one other client. I would prefer he come to me in this case as the expenses already for his hour are high.

I agree with the Baron. If he is a VIP client, or even considers himself one, looking at it from the clients stand point, he might be a bit put off if he's paying for a one hour appointment (probably plus tip), and is paying for round trip Uber fare, and then is asked after the fact to pay for your transportation time. I think it is too late for that discussion.

Speaking for myself...if you spent 2 hours on the road coming to see little ol "Moi"...I know I'd give you a big fat tip. ;)

All responses so far seem very reasonable. All good advice.

Ill add that Im a suburban client. 30 minutes from San Francisco.... over an hour in traffic. Each way.

I'd expect to be quoted a higher price for travel to my location. @Lance_Navarro quotes half-rate for travel... I do that in my worklife too. I think its reasonable.

I find that its just better for me to go into city, especially first visit.

As much as it may be counter-productive advice as a suburbanite, try to get him to come to you. Particularly if first visit. What if you're en route and he cancels? What if you're ringing a strange doorbell and theres no answer? At least youre comfortable and familiar in your base vicinity, not uber-dependent.

Dont want to always take a glass-is-half-empty view... but sometimes its practical.
