I say even if you don't set an end date to retire, spend and save wisely. Prepare to do something else later on down the road, even if you don't know exactly what that is yet.

I don't have an exit strategy. Right now I'm studying for the fitness certification. I also plan on getting certified in massage therapy. I play piano and do plenty of music work, which I love.

 

I'll probably escort less and less as time goes on. However, I doubt I'll fully quit. I enjoy it too much.

Actually, I’m not sure that “life after escorting” applies to @Kevin Slater, since he is “available now” on RM. Still, he certainly seems to have invested wisely: I believe I read somewhere he used his surplus escorting income to get into NYC real estate, and he owns multiple apartments in Chelsea. I believe @stevenkesslar is also in the real estate biz.

A friend once told me ladies could hardly like to do other jobs after doing escorts because it is more difficult but less income.

I know a lot of escorts who retired with nothing but the stories of the former glorious past... fortunately some of them have a road map and it starts with saving money for the future, investing and getting ready for a pay cut after they hang the gloves.

Personally I think every job should have an exit strategy in the wings, just in case. You never know when the shoe might drop and you have to shift gears to something else.

 

I escorted off and on for 15 years, but all along I was working on a more conventional career in parallel. It was reaching a milestone in my conventional career that lead me to hanging it up (for the most part) with escorting. I got a new job that was demanding in both time and energy, so escorting (even part-time) was not going to be practical anymore, at least for the moment.

 

But like @ChristianCronin gets at, it's hard to fully quit. I too have always enjoyed it. There have been a few times where I've had an extended break and I've reactivated my ad, and really enjoyed being back in the game if only for a little while.

 

Guys like Kevin Slater and Steven Kesslar show how you can do it with wise investments. This takes a lot of thoughtful planning and discipline, and that doesn't come naturally to everyone. And Lance Navarro has expanded to be certified as a surrogate, which I'd expect offers lots of new possibilities. I envy those guys, and what they've been able to accomplish.

 

I think real estate sales is one of the more common second careers for former escorts. The interpersonal skills, and orientation to sales and agreements (contracts) lends itself to real estate. Also it's a comparable pace of work, with the focus on appointments and scheduling rather than regular hours in an office. Of former escorts I know, lots have gone into real estate. Quite a few have also gone into law - go figure!

This is true. Apparently, the doctor contacted the Escort while he was still escorting.

I often mentor other working guys on these matters. But I'm here to say that one doesn't necessarily have to be searching for a different job, and escorting can provide comfortable support while building a very nice nest egg.

I knew a few years ago that my time escorting would be coming to an end so I made a plan. I went back to school and got my batchlors last September and I'm working on my masters now. I couldn't have gotten to where I am were it not for rentboy, rentmen and a special thanks to daddy. The money I made has paid my rent and tuition for the last 3 years and I feel really humbled.

 

When I'm done with school I will be doing therapy which is not much different than escorting except a little less hands on
