Too defensive when asked about location?

Do you think it would be appropriate if I apologized for possibly coming off defensively or should I just let this slide and have it as a lesson for next time?

I think that would be very appropriate, if it was very recent. There is no reason I can think of not to just tell a potential client what part of town you are in. I would just tell him. It's better than taking a chance of coming off as secretive. That could make a client less likely to trust you in general.

Sometimes I forgot that just like the client is a stranger, I am too

Too true. Just as escorts are vetting clients to weed out the flakes and bad-fits, the clients are doing the same thing (at least the real ones are). It is easy to forget that it is a two way process.

As for looking for location, I would ask for multiple reasons. Either I want to find a mutual convenient place midway, or I want to get a feel for how long it 'should' take for the escort to get to me, or what mode of transportation they may use. Do I need to pre-clear a car entering my neighborhood, or a cab/car service, or are they walking from the nearby mass transit? I will have to give directions and which direction they are travelling makes a BIG difference as to which highway/main road they should use.

I wouldn't immediately assume they want your home address, but rather what area you live in.

When I'm travelling to someone, I usually ask "about where in _______ are you, so that I can get an idea of travel time". And the same would be true the other way around. If we're meeting for an event, then it is the escort's responsibility. BUT, if we're meeting for a BFE or dinner/drinks or a massage or <whatever>, and I have flexibility in the schedule, then knowing your neighborhood helps the client be flexible in scheduling.
