Several years ago I tried Nair on my back. Aside from the difficulty of putting the depilatory on your back and wiping off, there was the mystery of where you stop. If you have hair all over naturally, it looks funny to have a bare stretch and then a carpet. And the rash! Itched for a week. And, to boot, it doesn't work so great on heavy hair--leaving stray bits of fried hair all over. And it stunk.

 

I admire the manscaped and smooth looks but it must be a PITA to maintain.

You got that right. Before I started trimming the lower extremities, I tried every powder and talc on the market to alleviate odor problems, especially in warmer weather, but it would not work an entire day. One day, bought an trimmer and just mowed it down, and no longer get that occasional whiff of odor during the day.

Those that do trim...I'm looking for advice. When I use my beard trimmer to trim my balls or the shaft of my cock, occasionally a single hair will "rip out" with some ensuing minor blood, pain, and a curtailment of receiving sloppy oral service in the area.

 

What am I doing wrong? I use a 2-3 setting I'm only trimming short, not to the skin. I've perfected the technique a bit but still get nervous when is time to prune.

I have never found an electric trimmer that doesn't grab and bite your sac and cause it to bleed. What works best for me is a good ol' Bic disposable twin blade. Soap the area up while in the shower and get creative about stretching the skin to get a smooth surface. Use a brand new blade each time (your balls deserve it) and everything comes out smooth as silk.

I don't use a beard trimmer. I use a body trimmer (Phillips or Norelco, can't remember), I bought on sale to try it out. I too will get an occasional nick when trimming the balls. I vaguely remember an ad for the Braun Cruzer 6 that said "safe for everything in your underwear". I think there is something better that what I use, but haven't seen anything yet.

As someone who tried shaving and tried trimming my private parts with razors snd electric trimmers and always had periodic accidents that put a damper on or cancelled some fun I am happy to have tried MAGIC™ . Well given my proclivities if it does burn I kinda like the feeling and don't perceive it as a burning sensation... but that's just the way I am!

For the record I shave back and upper arms and trim chest, abs, and pubes. Legs untouched. Some facial hair as well that's trimmed.

I always shave my balls and the shaft of my cock, but trim other parts. I use a same type razor for my beard, it works very well.

Doesn't answer my question as to why men have suddenly started shaving themselves as smooth as babies -- even smooth twinks have pubes! and often a treasure trail --

 

Suddenly? This has been going on since the mid-late 1990s in my observation. Even married guys seemed to start grooming. Maybe it was a coastal thing first and then spread though...or maybe the ubiquity of internet porn is what brought it to the masses.

For myself, my body hair is uneven and unaesthetically pleasing left unmanaged. I get my back/shoulder hair shaved off periodically(skin too sensitive for waxing/sugaring) and run a # 3 clippers over my front - chest and pubes. Leg and arm hair is blond so I don't do anything with that. I shave my armpits mainly because it helps antiperspirant/deodorant stay on. If it weren't for that I would just trim my pit hair, since it grows to an unsightly length.

It seems like your pubic area would be more prone to those problems, but I've only shaved that once and was horrified by the results. Unless you have extremely low body fat, full-on shaving that area is, imo, inadvisable. But you can take clippers to it to take it down.

I would one-up you with question marks and exclamation points with an opposite point of view. I can't stand body hair except on the top of the head, eyelashes, and eyebrows. Underarm and pubic hair doesn't bother me, but everybody has different likes. Almost every web-cam dude is waxed smooth downstairs and I love that.
