English borrows many words from French.

But since English words usually don't have gender, it often confuses people.

In general, the words end with "eur" are male in French, the ones with "euse" are female.

True, but we're not unaccustomed to gendered words for jobs, dominatrix, actor/actress, waiter/waitress. More likely the confusion is caused by the similarity between masseuse and masseurs.
