Escorting in New York for the First Time - Suggestions?

Hi All,

I am about to visit Manhattan as a tourist (and escort there too) for the first time in May.

I've never done escorting outside of San Francisco.

I will not be doing in-calls so I will be traveling to where people are.

Any thoughts on how the New York gay scene / escorting scene is different from San Francisco?

Suggestions of your favorite things to see and favorite gay hangouts would be great too.

Hosting might be an issue. Many people live outside of Manhattan and work in the city.

If you are able to host, go to nyc during the week days as many people leave on the weekends to the Hamptons.

All major tourist things and if you can dedicate one day for tourist stuff there is a nyc pass, it's only worth it if you are able to do multiple things during the day.

Definitely check out the new World Trade Center and I'd recommend going at Sunset (get there at least an hour early to allow time to get through security and up there and I'd recommend buying tickets online instead of there).

I'd recommend seeing a show. If you are budget conscious you can get discounted tickets to shows that aren't sold out at the the TKTS booth in time square.

If the weather is nice it's fun to walk the high line and eat at Chelsea Market. If you will be there when the weather is warm Chelsea pier is fun to check out on weekends during the day and the village is fun to walk around. For bars I like the Hell's kitchen bars. Big gay ice cream is a fun store if you like ice cream. NYC leatherman on Christopher is fun to check out if you are into leather/kink.

When I hire in NYC I have a hotel so it's no problem hosting and shouldn't be a problem if you can't host if you are meeting another travelers since they'll probably have a hotel. NYC has a lot of escorts so you'll probably have a lot of competition.

I was lucky enough to find a nice looking young guy a few months ago on a hookup site that is into older guys and not guys his age who shares a lot of the fetishes I do so I haven't had to hire in NYC in a while

NYC is very competitive! As clients, we are very spoiled and used to seeing a steady inflow of new talent. Your ad states that you are 40 years old, which is not likely to attract a lot of attention, unless if you really have an 'edge'. Think about what your 'edge' is and market yourself accordingly. At least your fees are on the low side - $220 for an outcall is considered bargain basement here. So you may get some of the budget-conscious clients.

If you can't host, that is a serious handicap. I hear from escorts and masseurs that NYC clients really prefer incalls.

Finally, familiarize yourself with the subway system right away. Buy a monthly pass - taking the subway is by far the fastest and cheapest way around town.

Thanks Hunter. I won't be hosting, but I don't here in San Francisco either and it has not been much of a problem. So many people are always passing through with hotel rooms.

Yes 40! And with chest hair, too! Some people want a man, some a boy, and some something in-between. It's all good.

I appreciate what you're saying about marketing my edge, and I've got an edge, but I don't want to scare those people away who just happen to like a furry virile man but are otherwise not kinky.

I wish that there were separate escort websites for guys with specific "interests" in order to do niche marketing, as I get into many edgy, kinky and role-playing scenes with total gusto.

To me the large number of escorts in NY is a healthy sign as it tells me that it is a liberal city like San Francisco. I would be concerned if there were too few escorts.
