Titled "Turner's Modern and Ancient Ports: Passages Through Time" is a show now being mounted at the Frick through May 14, 2017.

With over 30 exquisite oil paintings, watercolors and prints of real and imagined scenes and accompanied by several monumental oil paintings, it's show not to be missed. Many from the Tate, London.

The Frick Collection is a jewel box and one of the most beautiful museums in the world. The permanent collection is, in a word, breathtaking. Some of the finest examples of the greatest artists who ever lived.

And the physical setting: an intimate family mansion, a (for its kind) modestly scaled urban masterpiece. Where the very human-scaled room dimensions help the equivalently intimate pieces in its collection, and its visiting exhibits, connect as they might not in a big loud museum setting.

It is indeed a jewel not to be missed, if you ever have opportunity.
