That's what I know Urich from as well. I didn't find him that attractive either, mostly because he's not my type. Avery Brooks as Hawk was more my thing.

 

But Urich was the archetypal Spenser for me. I don't much care for the books, though I have friends who love them, but I enjoyed the TV series very much.

Living around Boston, a not uncommon sight was Urich running out of an alleyway onto a main street when a scene was being shot.

 

I got to have an instinctive dislike of the show for the irrational reason that these shoots would close the street for a few minutes which, given Boston's already unnavigable downtown, would snarl traffic quite a while for several blocks around.
