Very good advice from everyone thanks It sounds like allot of people don't use craigslist and now it makes sense why Its obvious I need to expand haven't tried scruff or grindr I created a adamforadam account and well i made a little I didn't make very much on there. I've invested in having some professional photos taken already. I'll PM some of you my link. Currently it's expired but I'll pay for a membership tomorrow maybe when I start using it lol but today I want to relax. I was making most of my living soley from repeats for awhile but things changed one guy spent most of his savings just to keep seeing me, another was always super excited to see me but I think his boyfriend found out, one started refusing to see me unless I could set up meetings where a additional guy aside from me would be present so I'd be interested in networking with other escorts for this purpose. So I don't think it's because I'm a un likable guy. I was wondering if there are any other sites worth checking out or is rentmen the most popular site out there?

Need a tag team buddy? Happy to oblige :) located in LA myself

Beyond the titillation-motivated curiosity about who you're referring to (Geffen? Thiel? PM me please? ;)), I'm more substantively curious about why this guy 'resorts' to CL and am sure I'm not alone in expressing appreciation in advance if you could ask him if it feels organic to do so and share word here (of course, without compromising anything about his identity).

IF we can agree for the sake of discussion that there are generally more lower-cost escorts on CL and this guy is indeed a billionaire, cost wouldn't explain his choice. What qualities is he seeking that he thinks he'll have a greater chance of finding on CL versus a "professional" site? Greater discretion from someone who, no dis intended, perhaps due to inexperience doesn't even know who he is? But then, he's apparently shared his identity with you (to the extent you didn't know who he was on sight).

Perhaps I'm already overanalyzing and he was just coked up one night and stumbled upon pictures he liked. But that is interesting (to me, at least) nonetheless. IMO CL in L.A. has become a real sh*t show of pathology, perennial overposters and clueless 22 year olds (not to mention a seeming haven for really crass, 1950s era ways of expressing skin color 'preference' regarding who one is looking to meet).

I'd speculate about kinks, scenes, and other motivations to use CL. Those who like "rough trade" or "thrill of the hunt" are two easy examples. There are many others, but I know you know all this already. ;)

So I've been doing escort work for about 6 months. I was surprised at how much I was able to make so fast anyways between balancing my regular life and escort work on the side I was able to average 3-4 k a month off only using craigslist but I've had to advertise and message people constantly to get there. Lately this past month I haven't made much seems like there aren't much new clients to talk to on craigslist anymore the ones I have either have been running out of funds, stopped talking to me, or have inconsistent schedules. It's becoming harder for me to advertise and I've found myself having to lower my rate to make something still. Do you think rentmen would be a site where I could find better clients? I've stuck to craigslist because for awhile it was consistent and I've shyed away from sites like rentmen because I felt like more law enforcement would linger around in such types of sites. If anyone has experience with this please let me know I don't want to waste 30 something dollars on a membership if rentment isn't effective for most people. I also am better looking then most people so that's not the problem. I'm in the Los Angeles area so I don't live in a place like Montana or something like that. I'm great at talking to people and polite or mean if they want a dom I also never rush clients or cut time short and often find myself throwing in more time then an hour to get more repeats. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks.

yes, they're bottom feeders!

I think it used to be easier to find boys on CL a few years ago... I'm in San Diego. And over the years, I've found many young hot locals for massage and sex. But I tend to go for the newbies / amateurs. I've had many great times and have had many that I saw regularly.

A few years ago, all those CL posts were being flagged very aggressively by some troll, and it's never been the same since. I don't see many escort or massage posts on CL anymore. And it seems like the few that are there are just posted many many times. Or there are posts with no pics at all, which is strange to me.

On the one hand, I'm reluctant to argue with your first-hand account of experience there in SD. But, on the other, I think it's a stretch to attribute the broader sea change to even aggressive flagging by supposedly one person. It takes many people flagging a CL ad to have it disappear. I think it's likely more accurate to say that, at the same time, the technocultural shift away from CL/e-mail and towards Grindr/Tinder/"swipe right" is the real "culprit."

Just like @muscleboyinsd said it was easier to find boys a few years ago... I also think the reverse and say its been much harder to find clients than a couple of years ago. I remember a few years back I would gets tonssss of emails from an ad... I still get a lot of responses but a majority are just playing games on escorts or are flakey. They are a few real guys don't get me wrong but your going to have to sort through a couple emails and keep posting ads to find one that is real and then who is on the same page with you on your rate. Either that or they flag your ad down meaning they remove your ad so you keep have to post them which is annoying. The process is so random, sometime an ad gets taken down after like 5 minutes, others are flagged/taken down after a couple hours/days and then others stay up until they are expired. The process is much more difficult than rentmen but you can get clients you just have to answer lots of emails and have a lot of patience somedays. The going rate is lower so if your used to a certain high rate craigslist wouldn't work for you.

But I can't say anything too bad about craigslist as I've met some great people off that site. Especially one who let me crash at his place for three months when I was homeless and had nowhere to go and three years later we are still great friends, even though he moved to florida and has a new boyfriend.

I can't even figure out how to find the boys looking for "generous" men on craiglist anymore. I think all the old keywords - "roses" etc. get flagged. So I couldn't find an escort ad on craigslist unless I just read through all the ads.

You can use gen, GENt, GENTlemen, donations, benefactor, green, $ or even just use generous on the filter box. :p Thats a couple words i see used ;)

but even using those "discreet wording" still gets them flagged, while other times your ad stays up the entire week. Its all so random, and you just have to be lucky.

Hey Kent.

So glad to hear that your first months went well. Escorting, however, is more like a marathon than a sprint, so you are finally getting into the make or break stage of your escorting career. Newness has wore off, things are slowly normalizing and it is not that you are expected to make lasting changes to the way you make business.

Escorting, just like every other business needs that you invest money. The more money you invest wisely, the greater your return. Normally this investments for an escort look like this:

Gym membership fees, correct diet, fitness classes, maybe a trainer. (Can be a huge investment but this will pay off more than anything else)

A clean, well located place to conduct business.

Professional pictures. Your images (as well as your write up) are your business card to the world. A mix of professional and casual pictures will make your product look rounded and approachable. The better your product presents, the more you can charge.

Down the road, an investment many escorts chose to make is to quit any menial job that might be hindering their ability to take more appointments.

Your personal presentation. Your skin, your hair, your clothes. This counts.

Lastly, but definitely not least, the most important investment an escort can make is in publicity. Ads, personal websites, social media if you decide this is within your business plan, business cards, ads in magazines, you name it. Normally this is the investment that will make a difference between a thriving business and a dying one.

Don't go for the basic membership. In Los Angeles there are 300 escorts. No horny man will browse 300 ads. The first ten that appear will take the appointment. Only picture collectors and sketchy people will make it to the end. If you are already making more than 2 grand, then I strongly recommend you bite the bullet and pay for a platinum ad. Populate it with an intelligent ad copy that presents you in your best possible light and upload a minimum of ten amazing pictures. You will thank me. You will see the results right away.

Two more things:

For whatever reason you are not making your clients return. This is bad. Even in such a big market as LA you will make your most money from returning clients. Either you are holding back, you are not fulfilling people's expectations, you are promising more than you are giving... It might be something as simple as your incall location. Find out what's going on and change it. Being beautiful alone doesn't cut it, specially in LA. You have to be beautiful and the experience of being with you has to be beautiful. You have to send them off with a huge smile and wanting more. I am sure if you pay attention you will find out what to tweak.

Lastly, do not -for any reason in the world- lower your rates. Lowering your rates out of fear sends one message to your clients: "I was not worth what I was charging, I am not doing well, you can negotiate me down whenever you want." This is a slippery slope and it's an all too common mistake escorts make when trying to establish their brand. Once you are that desperate kid, you are fucked. Even when things are not as buoyant as you want them to be, you must project a successful, relaxed, confident appearance. This itself, will move people to hire you instead of the others.

Study your market. Decide on your rate. Stick to it. Sometimes calls will be fewer, but soon enough when words spreads that you are a great guy, worth every penny and super successful you will find that you can choose what clients to take and how much you want to work.

I am sure you have it in you. Make them smile.

Go get'em, tiger!

Agree with everything you say here and think it is very well said. Very good advice.

I think this was an important factor in why he chose to do his escort shopping on CL; the likelihood that he'd be able to find a part-timer / "non-professional" who didn't know who he was since he's basically a business man, albeit an extremely important & wealthy one, but not a household name "movie star" type of celebrity. [However, I enjoy reading The NY Times, Wall Street Journal amongst other business and media periodicals so I knew exactly who he was].

I agree that he was looking for the non-profesional/not full-time angle more than anything. Most full time escorts try to screen the client or require screening information. I, myself use apps such as True Caller and good ol' Facebook. The billionaire client probably was more afraid of personal information being used to blackmail him. It is sad that some people actually choose to be an escort just to extort money from others. It is similarly bothersome to me that most clients assume extortion when asked to go through any screening. Speaking from personal experience, this practice is used to try to gauge how serious about meeting the client is, and if they have any stalker or homophobic tendencies. Sometimes amazing experiences are never realized because of misplaced paranoia.

Using Craigslist (for the past few years) have been so dangerous to use (for both client and escort) that I see no point of doing it. It does not necessarily mean that the client / escort is "low-end" and yes, sure, you can get lucky and find gems every once in a while, but why risk all those bad things that may happen to you?!

I am sure that you may run into good sessions but all it takes is one bad experience... and as far as I am concerned, things can go really bad in so many ways on that site that I personally don't find it justified to risk it. You do your own due diligence in all cases and make a decision at the end of the day to see what's worth it and what isn't, but I personally would not indulge on CL posting / hiring. My 2 cents...

There are multiple ways to get around to this. Let's start with the fact that the vast majority of "billionaires" - as you put it - are smart people. Now, I personally have never met a billionaire, only "millionaires" but then again, I can't know with 100% certainty. These people are first of all extremely savvy about whom they hire and they usually choose reputable people in the industry (thus eliminating a lot of potential headaches that can come with hiring companions). They are clearly aware of what they are risking and don't try to impress anyone. Especially being exposed to people from all walks of life here in Vegas, the whales (gamblers that spends millions of dollars each trip here) are the people you would not assume that have much (if any) money. They generally don't act like it and you would never know who they are... Come to Vegas and just walk into a $5,000/hand BlackJack room and see how those people look like. You maybe in for a surprise.

Based on that premise, most of these guys act low-key and when they meet you, it is generally at a high-end hotel but at a standard room for the first meeting or until they get extremely comfortable with you (while they most likely have a villa for themselves there too). They don't share much (if any) information with you about their financials. In many instances, they don't even do their own interaction with you initially, they have people to do this for them. If they are not afraid to be exposed (e.g.: openly gay), then that's another story. Still, in my opinion, you will never know if you ever encounter someone with wealth beyond your imagination as they keep quiet about it. But honestly, even if they are actually rich and famous, would you recognize the CEO of Hotels.com? See what I mean?

... or just keep it simple and the billionaire's assistant gets in touch with you and have his assistant's buddy set up the meeting and verification who gets a C-note for his assistance. You would meet the billionaire but it was someone else that verified himself. Again, you would never know and there are so many ways to circumvent scenarios - on the client side - mentioned above.

These are just my "out-loud thinking" based on my experience.

Your are right about there being different levels and methods of interaction and screening from a client's point of view. All of what you mentioned is not limited to millionaires and billionaires however. I do agree that Craigslist is a lost cause for both clients and escorts for the most part. It's primary function and benefit is to be a platform for the "non-profesional"-both clients and escorts. As far as a billionaire meeting someone who is reputable and in a regular hotel, I can attest to that that that is not always the case. I have meet with a billionaire CEO once, and they used a phone number that tied back to them personally, and chose me because they were in the mood, and simply couldn't pass up the unique factor that I portray through my website, and had me meet them at their own residence that they had in Los Angeles. The fact that clients are weary of revealing personal information extends to all wealth categories. I agree the wealthy people tend to be intelligent. I disagree that that intelligence leads them to make "smart"-or in other words safe- choices. Rather, I like to believe that intelligent people use all the information available to them to then critically think about a situation or choice, and proceed appropriately based off of their analysis.

After all, a wise person once said an examined life is one not worth living. It is far better to think about and question each situation than to just simply follow protocols so blindly.

I must agree with the majority of your post. As I stated earlier, my writing is based on my experience for the most part and I guess at this point must assume that I have met the more "cautious" types and my statements were based off on those meetings. Everyone has a different level of comfort when interacting with a paid companion from the "get-go" and everyone is different and your testament is a proof for that. I like your style of writing :)

Hey there I can relate. I use craigslist on a constant basis and I've noticed over the period of time that business has declined for me. But I have met people there its just much harder to find someone legit. With the number of pic collectors and flakes you have to constantly posts ad to find someone. Sometimes I feel like there will be a day where there will be no more clients for me :(

But since you said craigslist is inconsistent you should definitely try rentmen. Since its a different website you will get new clients there. Try it for 1 month see how it goes then decide whether its worth the monthly cost.

I never go on Craigslist anymore

Rentmen is the site of choice for me

I'm not lucky enough to live in a area with a lot of choices, so I have used CL with good success. Mostly curious straight guys, which doesn't bother me ;)

I guess you'd rather not tell us where you live, rural area of Middle America I guess. I guarantee you using craigslist in any big or medium city where you have other legitimate sources for escorts is a bad thing and sooner or later you'll get mugged.

How does one *find* an escort on Craigslist let alone advertise for one??

Finding one: put an age range in the filters, then search "gen" , "help", "rent", "massage"

Advert for you, subject of posting like "GenTleman for younger friend", "Mentor seeks younger", etc.
