Why are there fake accounts/pictures?

Probably too fundamental a question, which is probably why nobody answered when I posed it within another thread. But this is something that puzzles me:

Why would an escort set up an account that's fake? Why post pictures that are not recent or aren't even the actual escort? Do people actually go, see some homely, old or just drastically different person and say "fuck it" and pay for time with them anyway? I would be pissed and just turn around and leave or not allow them in my room.

Do people on here have stories of escorts who turned out to be someone other than advertised? Did anyone go through with it anyway? Why?

This gets asked frequently and I am one of the ones who always answers. :)

There are a number reasons for it. Some post fake pics and possibly a fake ad because they want to maintain their anonymity. Some do it because they use the fake pics/ads to woo someone in for nefarious reasons. Some do it because enough clients will not walk away when they realize the guy in the pics is not the same guy at the door. This happens because the client is to scared to reject the working guy, too horny to care who is at the door, the guy just happens to look better than the guy pictured or sometimes the client truly can't tell the difference from the pics and actual person.

I can't say why pics of the working guy aren't always recent except to say it maybe laziness or the working guy doesn't look as good in recent pics. However, in cases of bodybuilders their weight and look can vary depending on training, bulking phases, or competition preparation. They may post pics they feel best represent them overall.

And yes, to all 3 of your last questions. It happened to me once, early on, in my hiring career. An escort I'd went to go see not only made promises he didn't ultimately keep... he also clearly wasn't the same guy pictured. He was friendly enough, but I wasn't sure how to handle the situation being relatively new to the hobby. So I went through with it and it was one of my few disappointing hires. It hasn't happened to me since because I'm more adapt at avoiding fakes. Also I'm far more confident in my hiring and would walk a way now without hesitation.

You have to understand for everything you are confident you wouldn't do, others don't have that same confidence. They are willing to go along because they are uncertain about how to approach the situation... or are to passive to just walk away.

I hope that gives you some incite.

*They hope that when they show up you will think "Oh, hell, I am horny anyway" and go ahead with it.

*They hope when you realize they are not who they were supposed to be you will be too scared to take action and will go ahead with it.

*They might be playing the long con, getting as much information as they can from you during the set up process with the aim of blackmail and/or extortion down the road.

*They might be only interested in you opening the door so that they can rob you.

*They might want to try to make you send deposits ahead of time and or buy plane tickets.

Possibilities are endless.

It is a real thing. This happens often enough. Think with your big head. Every single time.

AND if one day you get burned by an unscrupulous thief make sure you take him to the cops and write a review.

The minute you let a criminal get away with it you are enabling him to rob someone else.

Ok, thanks for the answers. I have been really curious.

I would call a fake a fake and leave and would have no problem dropping a negative review and even to call the cops if an attempt was made to rob me. I would not be easy to rob - I fight back.

Thanks for all the input. I feel badly for those folks who have been tricked and cheated. That sucks.

The parallel question is why people pay for an ad and then never respond to a phone call text or email.

This! No kidding. I have had that a few times and I don't get it. Why advertise if you're not going to respond to opportunities. I'm pretty sure that I don't come off as a creeper, either! ;) I assume some just have enough business and don't need to respond to every inquiry.

I've only had one such scenario - the guy was a good 10 years older than the pics in his profile. It took me about 5 minutes to realize it and I should have walked away. Instead, I stayed based on what I wished was true rather than what actually was. Had I paused to think logically for a moment I would have realized that the meeting would likely not go well but for some of the reasons others note above I didn't.

To part of the OP's original question, I did eventually ask the guy why his pictures were so outdated and he simply shrugged. I suspect the truth is that because it usually works.

Yes, I fell for it a couple of times early in the hobby - just like BnT mentioned. There is this escort out near LA who regularly puts out his ad with a muscular torso and biceps and he bullshits really well via text and phone. He is smart enough to switch escort names, pix, and profile content when clients catch on. He is a snake...a smart one. When he arrives, he is nothing like his pix, talks a good game and appears like nothing is wrong. He is a con artist. When I mentioned the discrepancy, he got aggressive quick forcing his tongue down my throat and pushing his weight on me. I didn't go thru with it, and I diffused his aggressive escalation by getting up, paying, & kindly asking him to leave- he knew why but he had what he wanted...$$$$. He was bigger & stronger than me; call me chicken or stupid, but I wasn't about to test him out.

@Truereview Sorry man - that's terrible. And you were probably just being wise. Better to part with cash than your safety or your life.

I met Chase Hunter in Florida. He was the first I've been with (brand new to this hobby). He was a bit older than I expected based on his pics but when I looked again, he did include some more recent ones. Super handsome tho.

But when I texted other men in Lauderdale, they either refused to send me recent pics or, when they did, they could have been the dad or granddad of the guy in their ad. I would have seriously walked away.

I for one would be REALLY scared to walk away from an escort regardless of the situation.

The only guys who frighten me are those who are drunk or high on meth because they're unpredictable - I've encountered each one time.

The drunk was in my hotel room and I deescalated the situation by getting him to sit down and talk and diverting the topics. The meth smoker was at his apartment and it was more bizarre than scary... I pretty much walked away (after three and a half hours).

I don't know if I've been lucky or simply stupid but I've done almost all incalls and never really felt at risk of physical harm.

Your question assumes that it's always a black & white situation; that the escort at the door is very clearly not the escort pictured in the ad. I've had only one experience when the escort at the door was clearly not the guy in the ad. I simply said, sorry... I want to hire the guy from the ad and no one else. That was it. No date. No money spent. But I've also had an experience where it was not so clear. The guy who showed up at the door looked a lot like the guy in the ad, but it would have be tough to say for sure without bringing up the ad and doing an on-the-spot comparison. I figured he was having a bad hair day and maybe the lighting was different. It wasn't until well into the date and he was naked that my initial suspicions seemed well founded... and even then I wasn't 100% sure. I suspect that a lot of escorts use pictures that look a lot like them although lots more flattering.

Luckily, this hasn't happened to me, but I know I'm just passive, non-confrontational, and insecure enough to allow myself to be swindled by a fake. The worst part is knowing that by being such a wuss I'm enabling the guy to continue ripping off others. The con artists know there a lot of people out there like me. :(

Yes, we are enabling them, Mo! And they know that by us being such wusses, they can continue their con. I'm not sure there is a bullet-proof remedy for this. Maybe if I was a big guy or someone with more balls or ninja moves. Only way to mitigate it for me: I stick with my regulars and men on the forum who seem well-vetted (although even that is proving not so infallible). Also, as I've said before, if a guy is new to me, I ask for photo proof ("3finger selfie")and I still conduct a 1-hour meet in public when we can assure we are compatible. It is more $ but after those incidents, I learned to take this hobby very seriously. - TR, the wuss with a plan.

hmm you didnt find him shoving down his tongue down your throat hot? :p

Anyhoo I actually wonder if you meet a fake guy and you don't go on with the session but still give him the money for him to leave that he sees you as an easy target and will try some way to get more money from you.

I think it depends if your the one hosting or traveling. If Im at someones else's place or hotel and feel like Im in danger I can at least just always leave knowing there won't be any repercussions really. But if its someone I'm hosting at my place and feel uneasy you can't just tell the guy to leave. Im afraid doing so will cause a scene. You kind of have to be on guard hosting at your place bc now that person knows where u live and has a one up on you.

It is a good point, Papito. I've always hosted at a hotel and i use a burner phone. I also always have a friend watching out for me. If I don't check in, he has a contingency plan of action. Part of being a wuss is being particularly cautious. I know, I hate to state all this outloud because it makes me sound like a chicken but I rather cluck than having my neck rung.

Are you joking about reporting the dishonest escort to the police?

Do you realize what the police could do to a client who admits to soliciting sex for money?

Writing a review is a good idea but reporting the problem to the police will do nothing except give the client a police record or worse.

I like your response, I think it is the one that best reflect how complex the motivations maybe for any action, including using fake/outdated pictures. It is not always an act of criminal dishonesty.

It happens several times to me, and I usually walk away. Not always. A few times the guy was hot and I was horny enough to take him anyway. I already shared this in another similar thread. One of these fake pics guys has become one of my favorite regulars and is now posting real pictures.
