I'm completely new to this, as the name implies. I've never hired anyone before. I'm a little familiar with terms, etc. I've been browsing the forum for about a week, and have been going to the main site and Rentmen on and off for years to waste time/for my amusement. How much detail about my cross-country trip do I go into with him when trying to set this up? When do you discuss rates versus when do you discuss the expectations of what's going to happen? Do I explain why I'm doing this, and want to hire him, specifically, or do I not need to justify anything? Do I tell him I've never done this before?

I have a thousand other questions rumbling around.

 

And I know that a lot of you are going to answer with "communication", but I'm nervous just to even initiate contact. So this is mostly about reassurance and advice-seeking.

Hmmmmm - tell him most of what you told us but not in 1 big "here I am!". Any escort worth his salt should be able to deal with your insecurities. A good dialogue back and forth should help but keep them to a minimum. Nobody likes to have to wade through the muck: Hi, I'm XXXXX. I would like to meet you and spend some time (XXXXX amount) with you on XXXXX date. I will be on a road trip and (will pass through your city). Make sure he knows this is your first time "doing something like this". Do not mention hiring, $, expectations on your first contact. If he is available at the time you are available then you can get into the whys and wherefores in subsequent contacts. If he is not available at that time, then don't give up - there are fantastic guys everywhere - the Forum is also a great "411 call center for info". You've made your first step - just follow thru.

 

My own personal opinion is not to use the Rentmen system for contact but if he is reviewed on this site there will be contact info.

Whatever you do, don't blow it by contacting him too far in advance. You run the risk of him feeling like you're just wasting his time with a bunch of questions and then blocking you. Although, who knows? Some escorts want advanced notice, some only want same-day queries (which is very uncomfortable for me, personally).

My advice about your situation though is to definitely go for it. I have my regrets also about not contacting a particular guy when I had the chance, and now he's retired!

Ask if he has an Amazon Wish List. Send him an item from it that should let him know you're serious. It's unreasonable for someone to block time out of their schedule for someone they don't know, very far in advance without a hint of commitment. This should work well.

I'll probably wait a week or two to email him, something succinct and leave the details for a follow-up.

Sometimes my penchant for over-planning doesn't let me see the forest for the trees, ie, scheduling this far out as a first timer may seem flaky.

 

The tip of asking if he has an Amazon wish-list is a particularly good idea. Even if he doesn't, it still shows a certain level of commitment.

I know it sounds like I'm being cheap, but a good chunk of my money is going towards the rest of the road trip. If my destination were solely the escort's city and back, I'd definitely splurge on a nice hotel, but I have a few other stops along the way.

Maybe yes maybe no. I assume that he advertises with an incall rate or you wouldn't even be considering it. However, think about it, would you invite a stranger into your home for the entire night? It's one thing to keep your eye on them for an hour or two, but the whole night might be pushing it. A hotel - - regardless of who pays for it - - may be the best choice.
