Professional boxer-turned-Philippine politician Manny Pacquiao has been banned from entering Los Angeles' shopping mall The Grove yet again for his previous homophobic remarks.

As reported on PEP News, the mall's owner Rick Caruso announced the decision recently, saying that a lot of people from the gay community are frequent visitors of the mall, and have the right to feel uncomfortable.

"[Therefore], Manny Pacquiao is no longer welcome," he said.

Last month, the boxer angered the LGBT community and its supporters over his statement that gay people are worse than animals. Although he later apologised, it seemed that the damage has already been done.

But this isn't the first time Pacquiao was banned from The Grove. Back in 2012, he was banned from the mall for quoting the Leviticus passage that says homosexuals should be put to death.

Caruso stated, "Based on news reports of statements made by Mr. Pacquiao, we have made it be known that he is not welcome at The Grove and will not be interviewed here now or in the future.

The Grove is a gathering place for all Angelenos and not a place for intolerance."

I certainly don't think so. He is viruntly and vocally homophobic and is even worse when he's back in the Philippines. I don't think we have any obligation to educate anyone in this day and age. If they are hateful and ignorant, they are purposely keeping themselves that way.

We are past the point where we have to beg people to accept us. There will always be people who hate us, but the time has come to make them keep it to themselves. Just like racist have to keep it to themselves or suffer the consequences.

The Grove is private property. If they feel someone could be disruptive while on their property they have every right to ban him.

Hugs,

Greg

What if another mall bans openly gay people from entering it? Would private property be a way to explain it?

One thing is Target, Walmart and others not allowing guns to be brought to their stores in open carry states, I think that makes sense.

You can't equate the two. One is a behavior the other is who you are. If they banned Filipinos, that would be a completely different matter.

Maybe asking how we would feel if they banned men in drag would be a better comparison. We're talking the Grove here, so that is highly unlikely, but it wouldn't get my panties in a twist.
