Clients: what are your views about escorts on social media?

The subject came up at the DC luncheon: whether escorts should be on social media (beyond RM/M4RN/etc.) or not. Some were of the opinion that it's not classy, that high-status clients wouldn't bother with escorts on Twitter and whatnot who are easily identifiable as escorts. Conversely, I've seen forum posts where clients effectively used escorts' Twitter and Facebook accounts in their hiring decisions.

I had just started a Twitter account before the luncheon as another way to engage with potential clients. Like my other profiles, it's discreet (e.g., no face pictures, fictitious business name), so a client wouldn't need to worry about others identifying me as an escort if we were to be seen together in public. However, so-called high-status clients likely don't use social media as a way to procure escorts, so my Twitter may be for a different client base.

What say you Daddies? Do you appreciate escorts who are discreet but nonetheless are available through social media? Is being super active on Twitter a deal breaker? Do you prefer seeing an escort's Instagram?

I'm agnostic about the whole idea of escorts on social media. I've checked a few escorts' twitter feeds and followed some of them. I've seen some that merge their other business interests, mainly porn, and the result can be either flattering (in that it reinforces the 'look' they otherwise project in their advertising) or bordering on destructive of their escort brand (what they post is different to their escort image and and makes them appear less desirable than their advertising). Escorts who project discrete aspects of their business and other lives in the one twitter account need to be wary of cancelling out their messages by mixing them up in the account.

Steve Draker uses his twitter almost exclusively in relation to his escorting activities, and that complements his other advertising (I had mentioned that previously in another thread). He also throws in an occasional comment or image of things that are happening in Europe or Belgium in particular, but these are totally unrelated to escorting so do noting to add to or detract from his advertising. Finally (on twitter) I have seen at least one escort who uses twitter to publish 'colour' about himself and his life that adds to to readers' picture of him as a man (rather than just as an escort), and to my mind that can only be positive.

Summary, it can work but there are traps for the unwary!

A companion's social media use has never drawn my attention to hire him. Most of it is silly and boring, which means there is upside potential for someone who is creative and outside-the-box. Some companions should exit social media. They are careless and leave an easy trail to their personal life. They post stupid, even offensive, remarks, whacko stuff, etc. I have made no-hire decisions based on what I read, but have never made a must hire decision. Perils abound!

Austin Wolf being the perfect example of what not to do on social media!

I don't do social media in my personal life and definitely not with my escorts. I don't understand why in the hell I would want to have an escort as part of my social media.

Can someone explain, in simple terms that I can understand, why I want to invite an escort into my VERY PERSONAL social media?!?!?!

Makes absolutely no sense to me.

Mostly through this website, I've learned what some escorts do on social media (thanks), and it has soured me on considering spending time with them. In addition, I'm sorry to say, I believe birds of a feather flock together, so it has also soured me on spending time with other escorts closely associated with them. I just don't think the experience will be worth the fear.

Make a second account just for escorting social media. Keeps your two worlds nicely separate.

On my phone, I do all my escort stuff (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) through the browser. The apps are for my real accounts.

On my PC, all escort related acccunts are done via IE. I use Chrome for my real accounts. I might make a separate login account on the computer to be even "more separate" some day, but as if now I've never had a problem.

A problem that some escorts have is that they cannot decide if their social media is business-related or personal. If it is Twitter, then the escort should use that purely for promotion purposes....but, some of the younger ones mix private stuff in there, and that is just a dumb idea. If they want a personal social media space, leave that for IG/FB. If they keep their Twitter professional & business oriented, they would spare themselves lost business.

Some of the porn / escorts use Twitter very effectively. It's one more place where they can advertise their appearances and travel. Believe it or not, there are tons and tons of people who have no idea this forum exists and will never see that thread in the traveling escort section. (Shocking I know.) I assume putting your travel schedule in your Rentmen ad is the most effective way, but Twitter is a good way to push out the information and not wait for someone to click on your ad.

Mike Gaite recently stated that he doesn't think Twitter has gotten him much business, but I don't know if that's the same for all. I recently fell in lust with a young porn guy on Twitter and booked him for an overnight. It definitely paid off for him.

Immature, snarky or slightly psychotic escorts should avoid Twitter at all costs. It can only do them harm and scare people away.

Exhibit A. Check out @KurtusWolfe on Twitter. A little something that you boys in the Cleveland area might be interested in. ;);)

To the OP, would you consider this forum part of social media? Based on behavior or posts here, I've decided whether to hire someone (and definitely sometimes not).

You know, I wouldn't, but I'm not sure why. I guess I think of social media as something that's primarily (or purely) for socializing, whereas this forum is primarily intended to gather/share info about escorts. But I may be using too narrow a definition.

Treat Twitter as a line to put out information about your product--not about your personal life per se. This place should be where you let some of the personal side show, but, this is also product promotion. For example, look at Kurtis Wolfe's posts on the boards--friendly, but not particularly revealing on his personal life or the inner workings of "Kurtis". The polar opposite is Mike Gaite, who is not remotely shy in letting you see his personal side, but that is a quirk specific to him. This may sound odd, but you should consider putting a business plan on paper. Decide your marketing strategy. Decide the image you want to present. Decide how long you want to be in this line of work--treat it like smoking, in that you set a quit date at some point, end it, and walk away. Decide how you are going to save the money you earn here. Have your business plan.

The only social network I participated in is Facebook. I've never been interested in Twitter. But after reading this thread I now find interesting to follow escorts in social media, specially to peruse their networks and maybe finding other interesting boys to hire.

So I ask for advice, my friends, should I open a new and sinful Facebook account or instead open my first and sinful Twitter account for everything sex?

That's a good idea. I was just working yesterday on my business plan for my "real" job but hadn't considered doing one for escorting.

Well Twitter shows a more unvarnished view than FB. FB will censor content, while Twitter is a hands off operation unless the Feds are looking for people doing seriously illegal activity.

Twitter is MUCH more fun. Some of the guys -- mostly the porn models -- post some very hot stuff. FB really is old school and for boring family stuff.

One of the hottest things I've ever seen is a 30-second video of Alexander Mecum filming himself doing naughty things in the shower of his gym after a workout. Just a little "gift" for his followers. :p

Andre, here is a (minority) view: I have no Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. Closest thing to having a social media presence for me is this forum. I appreciate companions for who they are with me, not for the persona they develop in social media. I get to know them the old fashioned way. I interview every new companion to me. Someone could be a total Twitter Nut, and as long as they are thoughtful, respectful, and passionate with me, their social media choices/behaviors don't matter to me. I choose to engage with them thru only the lens of their companionship abilities. I know it is a limited view, and I probably should do more "research" on them, but frankly, I've been pretty successful finding quality guys without much more additional data points from social media.

Good suggestion for others. But, in my world, there is NO WAY IN HELL that I'm going to add escorts to a ANY social media account. Do you really think that your two accounts aren't going to be eventually linked??? There is so much data mining going on with your computer that I personally believe there is absolutely no privacy on social media.

For some of us old farts that's just not going to happen. And if an escort doesn't like that, then they're not getting my business.

Oh, They data mine my devices. I have suggestions from both Google Plus and Facebook that could only come from my own phone.

But with the NSA recording at least 70% of phone calls (not the metadata--the actual calls) anyone who expects any privacy anywhere is naïve. Or is that näive?
