Yes, non-white men are fetishized because of race. Some so-called white men are fetishized for other reasons or because of nationality. Brazilians are fetishized in part for being more post-racial than Brazil actually is.

 

Anyone who thinks the power dynamics of regular life, in which white men are at the top of the pecking order (the Obama presidency notwithstanding), do not spill over to gay porn is not living in the same world I live in.

From my limited experience Brazil is not as post-racial as it's given credit for. I recall travelling in Mexico for a few days with an American couple who had spent a lot of time in Brazil. Their account was that wealthier people who were a little towards the darker end of the spectrum (even a quarter or an eighth, and yes he said they spoke that way) would do almost anything to entice a blond haired blue eyed man to marry their daughter. That said, wealth seems to trump colour in Brazil more easily than it does in the US.

 

This attitude seems to be a reflection of the Portuguese colonial attitude to race, where while there was no easy path to getting ahead, race didn't disbar someone from upward social mobility.
