I think some clients like the thrill and fantasy of getting with a porn star/performer. So I think you could...

Personally, I like the thrill and fantasy of landing an exclusive, hot companion who doesn't need to advertise/market himself too much. To me, there is something uniquely enticing about a brand whose service quality is the draw as opposed to its ubiquitousness. In return, I'm willing to engage that type of companion regularly and possibly even pay a premium for his company.

Welcome to the forum, Keith. I look forward to seeing your marketing strategy and your brand development. Best, TR

Here's my take as a client: The key to getting more biz is being a good escort. Pay attention to what the client needs and wants. Politely decline clients who request services outside your sweet spot or comfort zone. I've met porn stars before they got into porn, while they were in that line of work, and after the porn career ended. I'm not more or less likely to hire an escort in that biz because I have never detected a performance (ability to offer a satisfying experience) difference between the porn guys and the rest. The "attitude" thing is largely a myth.

Some guys may be more inclined to hire a porn star because they see the man perform and get a sense of what a session might be like with them. Other clients prefer a level of discretion, so being "seen" publicly with a porn star will not appeal to them. To each his own....

I say do porn if you like it, if it's fun and could use an extra paycheck or two AND you have no high-profile ambitions in your future, but don't make this decision based on whether it could boost your escort biz. Be a good companion, and you will do well.

Good luck and welcome to our little village!

Keith, I would say that doing porn is a way of increasing your visibility as an escort, but not an essential way of doing so. If you can generate a steady stream of clients, or if you have a day job as well as escorting, porn may be an unnecessary distraction from the rest of your life. There are porn actors here who use that as part of their advertising and others who downplay it, even some who have stellar reputations as escorts without needing to mention their porn credentials. It seems to me that you have generated enough interest by chatting here about escorting.

I don't necessarily hire based on whether or not an escort has done porn. I don't have any illusions about replicating a porn movie. But I agree with jawjateck, don't do it just because you think it might boost business.

My best advice is that, make sure porn is something that you really want to do. I would contact other escorts who have gone into porn, do a nice sit down, and discuss with them all of the pros and cons. It is not a decision you should make quickly...good luck.

Thanks guys, I currently have a good client base but like any business always researching new areas to bring success! I also like to meet new clients, I enjoy sex as much as I do having conversations and getting to know someone. The new client business is what I am trying to build, and often heard guys like hiring porn stars. I would only consider doing it to meet new guys, and for no other reason!

I've done a couple dozen scenes with major studios and I would say it's not a business boost. I've worked with some bigger "stars" in porn on and off camera, and they tend to agree with me about not being an escorting boon. I think the people on this forum shy away from porn stars more than the general hiring public does. Feel free to PM me about this; I'd be happy to talk to you about it.

In that case you need to consider whether whatever porn identity you construct reflects what you want to do as an escort. That may be difficult to achieve. Since you are thinking about starting porn when you already have an escorting identity, it's not such an issue, but I have read of a porn performer who was seen as a bottom but as an escort wanted to be a top: his porn and escort personas clashed. You need to avoid that if you can!

He guys, so I have been tossing the idea of doing porn around only because I heard it increases business. Is this true? Is a client more likely to hire you because you were in a porn? If there are any clients out there please feel free to respond as well.

Mike apparently knows from his own experience and from talking to his friends in the industry. I can only answer from a different perspective of being a client.

I think normally-it can't really hurt you in getting your name out there to clients. The reason I've liked hiring porn stars in the past is that you know in general what the guy looks like. It also gives me a bit of a thrill to know I've been with someone who has made movies but also envy as I'm a frustrated (non-porn) actor at heart. But the thrill of knowing I'm with someone who has been in movies isn't so overwhelming that it would be the only reason I would hire them. The main thing would be the fact that having seen them in porn, I have a general idea of what they look and sound like. I will say though that I've had just as nice times with non porn star escorts as I have with porn star escorts.

I did have one really interesting occurrence about 5 years ago from having hired porn star escorts. I was out of town, and to combat boredom I went to the local leather bar one night. They were showing clips from various porn movies on the wall. The clips were on an infinite loop so kept replaying. There were about 10 stars being showcased. As I watched, I got tickled when I realized I had been with 3 or 4 of the guys in the past.

Just my own perspective.

Doing porn ranks somewhere between neutral and a slight negative on my hiring scale.

The thing I like most about it is that I know exactly what you will look like, no unpleasant surprises on that front. No fake pictures, no 20 year old pictures.

There are a lot of things I don't like about it.

If our paths crossed, I would definitely consider hiring you. Mostly that's because I find you hot, you show your face, you show your body, I find your ad hot, and you have a reasonable hourly rate. While being in porn wouldn't necessarily change that, it would not increase my desire to hire you at all.

I'm not a pro so don't have first hand experience, but I'm going to guess that these days, because there is so much porn and so many ways to access porn.....it's not as big a deal or as special as it used to be.

I am guessing guys in porn from 5-10 yrs ago that had a decent porn career when you could actually be a porn star with name recognition probably get a boost from that experience.

But it seems like EVERYBODY does porn now.. so it's not as big of a deal and people probably don't really look for a man in a promo unless they are a break out star or have an extra extra large member.

I watch porn probably once a week online and I can only think of a handful of guys in the past couple of years that stand out (Kieran being one) but for the most part I can't single any of them out.

I think you'd be surprised. There is a huge porn following, and I believe that social media has even increased it. That's assuming you're into the whole thing. I follow a bunch of them on Twitter and so do a LOT of other people.

I'm not gonna start naming guys, but there are absolutely stars of the moment. Guys that can get people to turn up at clubs and events based on name recognition alone.

As far as escorting goes. The plus would be the name recognition. The minus might be a little bit of intimidation factor. I'll tell you one thing though, there is an up and coming "star" called Alex Mecum that I would pay a huge premium for! If you don't know who he is, do yourself a favor and follow him on Twitter. There are some amazing X-rated things there.
