Is it unreasonable to ask for a short video chat before meeting an escort in person? Everyone should be able to do it easily from their phone via Skype or FaceTime. I have assumed that escorts who say no have something to hide, especially since we would be meeting face to face anyway.

It's not unreasonable. However, to assume an escort has something to hide because he doesn't want to Skype or FaceTime isn't an accurate thing to assume. There could be any number of reasons besides being shifty that a working guy can't or won't video chat.

But if that's your vetting style, have at it. To each his own in this hobby. :)

Totally agree with BnT. If I'm meeting someone brand new, I typically ask for a selfie with a specific gesture or holding of present day proof. Ive received all sorts of proofs - from guys holding that day's newspaper to sending me a 3finger selfie to someone flipping me off :) I've been offered skype or FaceTime sessions, but I don't require it. I think eventually video sessions will become more de riguer

Good luck!

And if the escort wanted to vet you (to be sure you're not simply getting off via skype with multiple escorts whom you never intend to hire), you'd be happy to paypal some small amount for the chat?

Recognizing your question was not directed at me, I would offer to pay for video chat time. A five minute video chat would be 1/12th of his hourly rate. That seems only fair.

No, it's not unreasonable.

If you do it politely, you are pretty much welcome to ask for anything you might feel like asking for. Sometimes you will get it, sometimes you won't.

In my personal case I can't send a face picture, do a video nor have a video conference. I won't, under any circumstance. I have a profession that could be hurt badly by doing this. A rule of thumb is that once you let images or videos on someone's hands, (even if they swear on their mother's grave they won't) this information WILL inevitably be leaked. Computers get hacked, people die leaving their gadgets to others, and people often share information they promised not to share.

I will not be able to meet any client who requires face picture to confirm. I do offer that if the second you see my face you were not thrilled, I would go away without asking for a dime nor an explanation. So far this has worked really well for me and for the people with whom I have met.

It has the added benefit that when I am travelling with a client, nobody but people who have hired me previously, have a way of knowing I am an escort. For people concerned with discretion, this is a huge plus.

Lastly, escorts not showing their face doesn't necessarily mean they have anything to hide face wise. A few of the most handsome escorts that I know have never posted their face on their ads.

I think the secret to a perfect experience lays in finding a perfect escort-client pairing when it comes to compatibility.

Best luck in your adventures! There's a lot of joy to be had! =)

I agree with Juan. As clients we have the right to ask for whatever will make us feel safe and content about our meeting. Escorts have this right too. If you find yourselves at an impasse, the art is in finding a compromise that will suit both parties and enable trust. Explore a win-win. No one wins when you get all high and mighty about your own notions/standards - or try to pass them off as a good practice. Everything is relative.

Character, to me, is revealed thru dialogue and compromise...not in hanging on to absolutes. Absolutes, to me, are lazy..maybe even a sign of deeper issues. Some of my best companions have been willing to say: I can't do that, but let's figure out a way to make us both feel...safe...assured...turned on...feel in the blank.
