Do tragic events like what happened in Paris affect the business? I hope is not too soon

It's funny, and probably human nature. This morning on npr someone explained that when there is a new threat we exaggerate it even though existing threats are often much more deadly. Think the Ebola scare last year!

I guess we internally assess and accept existing risks even much larger ones but new ones are distressing - perhaps because we can't calculate their risk yet?

The 2014 election was decided over a few beheadings, and the children of Guatemala bringing Ebola. Lol

We are concerned about what we shouldn't be concerned, and we're not concerned about what we should be concerned. We should also mind our own business and vote with our pocket and not over a cultural war or a feeling of superiority over other people.

What if a terrorist attack happens in tx? Would he cancel an upcoming weekend with an escort because he's sad and doesn't feel that horny anymore?

Did business (prostitution) go down in the USA after September 11th? Obviously many of yinz (escorts) weren't working at the time.

http://www.companyofmen.org/threads/are-we-safe-should-escorts-continue-with-tour-plans-during-race-wars-minneapolis-now-tulsa.117933/

the silliness and fear mongering in this thread is useless

Maybe this other thread would be a better way to ask a similar question.

...safe from a lackluster tour, if things go left; that is.

I use race war as a broad term, but I'm just so over it. I was considering Going to both cities this year. Put ads in Minneapolis just after the time of the previous incident, email and phone lines were pretty dead out there (no pun intended). I was also starting to schedule a stop in Tulsa, as I've been going there about once a year. But now, after seeing this I can't imagine going there and business to be booming, so thinking I might as well detour that trip.

This ish pisses me off. I'm thinking this stuff is becoming synthetic. It's almost predictable. I have to tell myself, "OK let me hurry up and get on tour before the next terrorist attack and/or police shoots unarmed civilian." I tried to hurry up and get this trip started because so far September has been good business-wise. I'm just hoping things stay civil and doesn't cause Tulsa or any other city I'm visiting to get burned down.

This isn't to discredit, validate, invalidate or even discuss the events that have happened (trying to keep this out of politics and talk from a more general perspective). But, the effect things being replayed throughout media has on people can be significant. For example: the gas pipeline burst. In Nashville, the first day it was reported on the news, people were lined up down the street to get to gas stations. People created a crisis by panicking and sucking all the gas out of stations, causing all the stations in my area to run out of fuel all weekend. Fortunently I had over 2 half tanks of gas in both cars before all that happened so haven't had any need to stop for gas.

I know some people probably aren't phased or feel affected and will continue their trips anyway. But, it's inconvenient to be traveling around or worse yet end up in a city where everyone is feeling some type of way and you end up not having as good of a trip because of it. I was actually in Tulsa during the TM verdict, I've also been on tour during the Baltimore and St. Louis protests, along with the Orlando nightclub incident. So...I have a bit of experience with conveniently traveling, and having a big pressing media event gets unveiled.
