but it was a weak point to make to begin with. bryanforservice makes the best post here so far but I still ask why somoene wouldn't try to get over the hump of this medication in exchange for greater protection

Because people have different tolerance levels. Although not prep my Dr wanted me to go on Bactrim. Omg! The side wffect hit me within an hour. I was throwing up, got the bad poops and ran a fever. This lasted a couple days. I waited a few months and tried half a pill, same results. A different Dr basically told me to tough it out. FUCK THAT SHIT! I fired him shortly after that because of his comment and a few other things. Sadly he is still working in the office. In 2004 I was on the cocktail (I forget which pills) but I couldnt take the dreams (they werent going away) and I believe the pills were causing me to slip into depression. My Drs suggestion, take happy pills. Awesome! Lets just pump me full of more pills! I declined his offer.

Hugs,

Greg

Ps This was MY experience. Yours may be different

If you are hit with an onslaught of symptoms like Killian was, it can be difficult to see the forest for the trees. I'm not saying it was right for him to come off of PrEP. But as you have implicitly said yourself in endorsing bryanforservice's post, it is between him and his provider. Having been there, it is completely understandable to me. My doc, completely in the spirit of bryanforservice's post, said he was disappointed that I wanted to stop but that he understood that the side effects were just too much for some.

And this is why from MY own experience is very hesitant on going back on the meds. I don't know if I will be able to tolerate side effects, short and long term.

Greg

Please excuse me if this question is too personal, but in your situation, do you really have a choice? Don't you have to tolerate the side effects, whether you like it or not?

Trust Mr. Corndog (I love your user name btw) I would tell you if it was too personal. Theres been new meds that have come on board since 2004 and as soon as I get my insurance back I will look at what is available and weigh the options.

Greg

If I were you I Probably would too. However when you're an escort in a competitive city and doing two scenes a month, clients and studios expect physical excellence. The minute those abs fade away no mainstream reputable condom safe studio will work with you. But like I said, if I were in your shoes I absolutely would take a month long gym hiatus to take Truvada and neglect my fitness regimen. After all, someone who spends time troving trashy porn blogs and commenting about me can't have that much going on.

Lol

Life is certainly a hustle for some of us ;)

I'm 100% agreement with you on this. Pathetically the gay world is extremely (and hypocritical) vicious of anyone on Prep which are viewed as "Truvada whores." A term I despise. Using PreP ***IS**** a form of responsibility period. Those gay men who criticize are the same guys who "party and play" and have all kinds of unprotected sex with strangers then don't remember afterwards but turn around and condone PreP users. I've seen this so much I've lost count.

+1

I think this is an excellent thread on PrEP. It is so unlike previous threads in this forum on PrEP, that it feels like we're experiencing a sea change in attitude toward PrEP. Or at least the haters have worn themselves out.

it was straining my way of life. Taking off two weeks in the gym was out of the question. .

Right; when it comes to lessening the risk of contracting HIV, one wouldn't want to miss gym time for the sake of lessening the odds of contracting HIV.

Amazing how much faith people put in that micro millimeter of latex which can fairly easily break. For an escort, I would think you would want all the protection you could get.

Still, glad you're getting your gym time now.

PrEP has certainly changed the landscape, but don't minimize the protection that thin layer of latex can provide. Been using 'em for over thirty years with great success.

Before PreP thats exactly what people did, no? Or abstinence which doesn't really work given Killian's job(s). There are a lot of people whose careers require them to go to the gym uninhibited - models, actors, athletes, bodybuilders, trainers... So it's actually more unemployment and people posting on the Daddy's forum saying how he has let himself go vs. doing it the way it's been done for years.

CRSad9iU8AAoeNF.jpg:large LOL it's the same people who say "take time off at the gym" and then when they see a picture of someone looking out of shape they'll be the first ones to make a shitty blog post on it. You can't get mad at it though. It's a sad unfortunate reality for some people on how they occupy their time. Let us pray that they'll find a productive hobby.

That's such a beautiful pic, I saved it to my drive. Whenever I see a muscle pic that I like, I save it. Nice haircut.

I find the educational purpose of these posts not that they will be 100 % accurate all the time but that they will raise the topic and be discussed. Then I can discuss it with someone who will be as accurate as I will probably get, my doctor (and even then there is no promise in that.) Another educational purpose, of course, is to show me that there are actually beautiful bodies out there and Killian made that come true today. I will not be discussing that part of the post with my doctor (as much as he would probably like me to).

If condoms were able to prevent cancer, I guarantee you 99% of people would fuck with condoms and only in a serious relationship would get tested over and over again before BB to avoid that disease.

The health effects of tobacco are well known, yet people continue to smoke.

I don't really care too much about how my posts are worded...I'm too busy laying by the pool eating out Sebastian Kross's tight little hole :)

That has my vote for post of the year. It's just plain hilarious. And the abs pic is truly post-worthy. Certainly has motivated me to lean out the past few days. Moreover, it ruined my plan to hijack this thread with a post on Curtis Sittenfeld. I will have to wait for the next prep thread :-(

I've never gotten dinged for being on Prep. I was once encouraged to have my prep usage redacted from a review in which it was mentioned, but it has otherwise been only a positive selling point for clients to the best of my knowledge. People have pressured me to bb bc they are negative or undetectable but not bc I'm on prep. And while there is great pressure from clients to bb, I think it's really important to note there is great pressure from clients NOT to bb. Clients often explicitly tell me they don't want me barebacking during our time together, during my porn scenes, or during any day that ends in y.

I feel there's pressure to be on prep if you aren't. Numerous clients have encouraged me to stay on prep. And people have told me to add Gilead to my stock portfolio bc prep is here to stay. But I live in the Bay Area so prep is really old news here and distributed like candy by doctors.

I spent a few hours browsing the New York adam4adam listings. I was amazed to see how many young guys in their 2os say 'HIV neg, on PrEP' in their profile. It looks like EVERYBODY is on PrEP. And these were just the regular adam4adam profiles, not the PRO ads. I was really surprised.

It's actually not that easy to start PrEP, I do question some people who write that...
