Whorl Inside A Loop

At Second Stage Theater on 43rd and 8th Av, this is a new play by Sherie Rene Scott, whose semi-autobiograpical musical "Everyday Rapture" was a success a few year's ago.

This time, her play, loosely based on her experience giving acting classes at a men's minimum security prison in upstate NY, provides a dramatic look into the lives of six inmates, all incarcerated for heinous crimes, and how they influence her life.

good cast, engrossing and a great show. 1 hr and 40 min, no intermission.

I liked the guys -- compelling, exciting performances.

Still sorting through my mixed feelings about the show.

 

But I saw it very early in previews. My impression, from what I'm reading and hearing, is that Scanlan/Scott have really tightened the narrative focus of the piece.

A number of my friends liked this a lot. Not everyone's cup of tea, but evidently well worth seeing.
