How can an Elvis impersonator become a winning drag queen in the Florida Panhandle? With an empty bank account and pregnant wife, Casey’s going to have to answer that question fast in this music-filled comedy about finding your true voice.

Off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theater on Christopher St, this show runs till Oct 4.

Much more fun than I expected the one-liners come fast and furious from drag queen Tracey when she arrives backstage at a dilapidated old bar to perform her act with her drag sidekick Rexy (aka Anorexia Nervosa). Not only do they find the place a mess, but the recent "headliner" Casey, an wannabe Elvis impersonator has just been given the heave-ho. Rexy takes to the bottle (vodka) and passes out right before showtime. In a pinch, newbie, Casey fills in and is surprised how fast the tips come rolling in as a drag star.

Lots of fun. 1 hr and 40 min, no intermission. On TDF and other discounts. Very enjoyable.

Oh, almost forgot, lead actor Dave Thomas Brown is a cutie and spends a considerable amount of stage time in his briefs.

Saw it earlier this week. Thought it a bit clunky (but it's still previews) and - yes - very enjoyable.

Very attractive & charismatic leading man.
