Such a drooling topic, where to start? As an escort:

In a nutshell, I will say travel always prevails over being local. Are the overheads really lower at home? Not for me so much. Groceries, meaningless nights of bar hopping, stuff for the house, etc...not to mention the fact I've only made 250 all week, albeit from 1 client; certainly makes staying home a losing proposition.

I've always got around traveling expenses by using Priceline/Hotwire OR racking up points through a specific hotel chain. I also drive most everywhere so in the event of disaster, I can quickly peel out if a market isn't meeting my demand. I don't know how guys do it, but flying has never worked out for me. Either I stay too long, or not long enough and it always affects my bottom line. But...I drive because I took very stringent driving courses, drivers Ed, defensive driving, etc over the years.

That said, when it comes to dead cities...that can be ANYWHERE in America. The value of gay sex is worth $0 to most men. It's pretty sad when I hear a friend tell me about a guy who owns a $100,000 car, is 20 years older than the guy he's fucking, but won't spend $10 on a guy. And these guys ALLOW it because they're thirst buckets, sex addicts, etc. the average gay man seems to me, to be a sex addict in some form or another. Here's nothing wrong with that, but when getting off is as casual as a handshake, how willing can a guy be willing to invest anything into it? So that can easily kill off an entire profession.

As to the actual question, dead zone cities tend to be those with sudden rapid growth, but with a subtle exodus. For example, Denver. I'm so sick of this talk about rapid growth and sure...there's buildings going up all over the place. But non are really affordable to the average working person. What they aren't saying, is people are selling their homes and getting the fuck out of Colorado. The escort population is expanding (but constantly retracting since it's usually fly by night ads that never stick around longer than 30 days), but it's steady becoming deader and deader. The gay neighborhood is steady discombobulating, being replaced by straight families. Massage therapists seem to do well here, but I'm not interested in a conveyor belt kind of business, and their prices aren't more than $100 usually. The only demand is concentrated in the downtown area, the suburbs are ultra conservative, the people who move here are from small Midwestern (conservative) towns or bring the mentality with it. Surprisingly, it's those small conservative towns that tend to work well, but it's tricky as to which ones. It can vary from one state to the next.

Everyday, I just wake up and count down the day til I leave this place FOREVER. I can't stand this place. Dallas is an example of that, Miami is an example of that, and Lord knows that's the trend of many American cities. Soon as a city starts getting press; competition stiffens, guys start selling for pennies on the dollar, and the market dries up.
