thepointsguy.com pegs the value of United miles at 1.5¢/mile, so this should be worth $750. Keep in mind that it can be difficult/costly to transfer miles, however.

Those are miles I've earned while flying, not miles I've purchased.

Direct flights go for 20.000 miles or 25.000 if there's a stop, the escort could use 50.000 miles for 2 trips expensive trips across the country but only if he books them in advance or he could use all of them for a flight next weekend.

Yes, I realize that. Their redemption value is about $750, if used wisely. However, United will charge quite a bit to transfer them into someone else's account, so be sure that you've considered that cost as well.

I don't know how United approach transfers of miles, but I suspect it is not easy or cheap to do so. The plans I am in don't allow transfers except to family members, but they do have ways of cashing out points/miles. So, I would be more inclined to pay an escort in cash and perhaps cash out my miles myself. Of course if they had a simple and easy way of transferring miles I'd be happy to do so. At this stage I don't have enough hotel points to do anything!

Escorts: Would you take 50.000 United miles for an hour together?

You are going to find my language shocking, but I consider myself to be a mileage WHORE, and United is my airline.

I use miles all the time to fly family members on trips with me. And I make sure I fly enough on paid tickets to get 50,000 miles a year, to retain my Gold status so I can bypass long lines and get free upgrades, etc. I may be a whore, but I don't like to be treated trashy. So until United changed their system last year the basic math was I'd fly 50,000+ miles a year paid, get 100,000+ miles in award miles, and give them away to family members to go on trips with me.

My personal rule of thumb is if I can buy a ticket for $300 or less, I won't use miles (as you said, 25,000 or so) to get the ticket. So if I were to use 50,000 miles, my personal rule of thumb is it would have to cost over $600 before I'd use miles instead of cash. In practice what that means is I've used 50,000 miles to fly family members to Europe with me.

I've gotten offers from United occasionally to transfer miles and the charges to do so are always ridiculous. Out of curiosity I just checked and United says this:

Mileage transfers cost $6.00 per 500 miles and the processing fee per transaction is $30.

In other words, to transfer 50,000 miles they will charge you $630, which is probably enough to pay for most or all of the ticket if you just did it with cash.

The good news if you didn't know already is that you don't have to transfer miles, you can just book a ticket in someone else's name, but to my knowledge you have to actually have a specific ticket transaction to do that. For example, when I use miles to get tickets for my brother or sister or Mom it's always been for a specific flight, so there are no charges. To transfer the miles to a separate mileage account, I'd have to pay the ridiculous fees.

You didn't ask, but also be aware of the expiration dates because if you let your miles expire they will charge you ridiculous fees to get them back. If you don't fly a lot you can avoid that by using the airline partners like car rentals or hotels every 18 months (that's what United and American use for expirations I think).

I've never had clients pay me with miles but they have used miles to get me tickets to fly to see them. I'm selective about that because bottom line is it's a huge priority to get 50,000 paid miles on United every year. So as with everything it depends on the escort.

Be careful as its against most airlines' rules to sell or barter miles. AA has a dept whose only thing is watching for that. And yes I get it that you should be able to do anything you want with your miles but it's their game and they own the ball. That said your chances of getting caught is low. And that said the penalty is usually loss of any other miles you have in your account.

It's because I'm a great hunk of spunk.

I'm playing around with the look of stuff right now to see what sticks.

Just holler if you need volunteers.

Reminds me of Ralph Lauren's oversized polo shirts with a pony the size of an adult hand - who wears them? A bit too much logo for me, but take a look at some of the other signatures. Juan's is half a page...just an opinion, but someone with the reputation that Chris enjoys doesn't need to be shouting. Most of the time, less is more....

Don't keep playing around for too long, http://i62.tinypic.com/s1p0jm.png Your web page looks about right to me (but what would I know?).

The "hunk of spunk" line was meant for you—I didn't see I was replying to Starbuck. :)

But then I'm a party boy with a bad habit/ a bad habit for drugs.

(please tell me you know what I'm talking about).
