John Rechy's ground-breaking novel about street hustling has now been published in a 50th Anniversary Edition. I just noticed it at the Palm Springs Library, and haven't looked at it to see what, if anything, they did to commemorate the 50 years, but the fact that it is still on the shelves is a testament to its depth and power. I remember reading it when I was in the process of coming out and wishing I had those young men available to me. Of course, if they are still alive, they are all about 70 now.

Here's a NY Times look at City of Night and John Rechy after 50 years: "]http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/01/us/a-first-gay-novel-a-poor-latino-boyhood-and-the-confluence.html?module=Search&mabReward=relbias%3Aw%2C[%22RI%3A5%22%2C%22RI%3A14%22]
