For the inaugural opening of the costume wing at the Met this new show focuses on the designs of Charles James perhaps best known by the sumptuous photograph by Cecil Beaton of models wearing his ball gowns. More than just an exhibit of beautiful and unusual clothes the exhibit has put good use to computer technology to dissect the creations. If you take the time to watch the videos you come to appreciate the skill involved. They are structures of architecture and engineering and not just simply stitching together disparate fabrics.

It's a fascinating show well worth a visit.

Agreed Foxy! I was there last weekend and enjoyed the exhibit immensely. Was impressed at how intricate the dresses were and enjoyed learning who certain dresses were designed for.
