Top Tickets on Broadway

Book of Mormon continues to sell well, with an average ticket price of $182.63 last week. Kinky Boots is next at $130.22, closely followed by Hedwig and the Angry Inch at $129.46. The Lion King and Wicked are not far behind. Raisin in the Sun averages $111, while Beautiful is at $119. Factors here are theater size, as Raisin is selling more tickets than Beautiful. Wicked, The Lion King, and Aladdin actually sold the most tickets, but Aladdin doesn't break the $100 mark, averaging only $85.

 

After Midnight had the biggest drop in sales from the previous week at 22%, followed by Mothers & Sons at 20%.

FR -- Thanks for this. I unfortunately stopped going to the theatre already 3 years ago. The tickets for a night out became too much of an investment for me.

 

In the past, a date night for me with an escort would often include either 2 tickets to the MET or City Opera (until I discovered how very few NY Escorts appreciate the opera), or 2 tickets to a concert at Lincoln Centre or Carnegie Hall (again finding a guy who would actually appreciate listening to 2 hours of classical music was a bit of a hassle), or getting two tickets for a Broadway show that often cost as much (or more) than MET tickets if it was a hot ticket item.

 

I always would include a dinner before or after the show (which would add from $75-$150 to the tickets already), and then perhaps a late night drink and then overnight with the guy. So with most NYC escorts already asking from $1,000-$1,300 for overnight, and adding now the tickets, dinner, etc... I am parting ways with a minimum of $2,000.

 

Then came the reality check -- by the time theatre, dinner, post-theatre/dinner walk, coffee/drink... it is already midnight and getting back to the hotel, by the time I (we) shower and get ready for some hot sex..... I am already falling soundly to sleep (lucky escort ends up getting a night off only having to sleep next to someone who snores) ;-)

 

Now on another side, that $2,000 could give me two hot and sweaty hours in a hotel room with 2 or more guys, with enough money remaining for a nice quiet post-coital dinner (perhaps with one of them) and I walk home still with $1,000 in the pocket.

 

Sadly because of this reality, the lights on Broadway (and at the Met) have dimmed for my date nights.

Adriano, I was reading a novel the other day, and the characters went to see a Broadway show...for all of six bucks each! But then, incomes were a lot lower then. Frankly, if you take me to the theater, you won't have to pay so much- just dinner and the show!

PS - once in my extravagant years I flew a guy in from LV and all he wanted to do (in the 3 days in NYC) was see "The Lion King" -- a Broadway show that bored me to tears. Well, almost as much as this guy's antics in and out of bed bored me to tears. My revenge was a muscular, hairy Greek escort acquaintance arrived in NYC unannounced from a cruise, and with no place to go, I put him also in my hotel room (lots of room) and he proceeded to make the LV guy his personal f**k slave for the rest of the LV guy's last night in town. Now that was worth the price of admission!!!!!!
