In my own limited experience in porn, I’d definitely encountered the bias against escorting... He looked at me with a mix of dismay and irritation and said, “No way, that would be prostitution.” I was dumbfounded...

Nate is so right about this... and especially since he also mentioned a Kink star in his posting...

 

I was at a club once and there was a BIG time Kink star in attendance. The club owner was all over him and totally coddling and catering to him... and big time. Later in the evening in a discussion, I mentioned the world of escorting, but in a context not related at all to the Kink personality. The owner got all hot and bothered and started disparaging the world of prostatution and the like. I guess at the time he did not realize that said star was not only an escort but was there with a client and had given me his contact info if I wanted to hire him... It was all too funny... and it totally dumbfounded me as well... and especially since we were not exactly in church when the discussion transpired!!!

I agree -- who really cares?

 

But if I were to speculate, I'd say that at least the more successful porn "stars" are generally just having sex with other similar looking guys on film. They can therefore be viewed as slutty exhibitionists.

 

Most escorts, however, have sex with men who wouldn't be cast in a porn film unless they owned the studio (Jake Cruise, for example), so I suppose some people might look down on them because they're willing to do that.

Maybe some members of the gay community think escorts give bj at a park, or do any other kind of street prostitution, are more likely to get diseases, etc

 

To me there's no difference at all, I hire regularly and I wouldn't consider one kind different than the other.
