At the very least, should you try this again, indicate that you're looking for someone who's willing to bottom, and it never hurts to give descriptions just so there are no "surprises."

Welcome to the Forum! Versatility probably isn't the issue. I'm thinking that what he meant was that he hadn't douched because you hadn't said anything about wanting him to bottom. Douching isn't that fun for most of us and we don't do it unless we expect it to be necessary. That said, he also should've made an effort to be clear on what your expectations for the session were. There are ways to word your communication in the US so that you don't risk legal issues, e.g. "We enjoy topping a clean bottom. What do you enjoy?"

Yeah this is exactly what I was thinking. It's best to mention even to a versatile escort if you are expecting him to bottom. It's time consuming to do so, and the escort could end up running late to an appointment that he may or may not even get fucked during.

 

I consider myself vers/top. What that means is I'm usually top, but will occasionally bottom...as in I top more than bottom. I know that's a complicated term for some, but it makes sense.
