The Explorer's Club is an evening of hysterical laughter at Manhattan Theater Club's presentation of this comedy set in Victorian England.

 

The Explorer's Club is an all-male institution whose membership sems to be comprised of very eccentric characters. Into the mix arrives Phydllida Spotte-Hume, recently back from finding a lost city and tribe in Southeast Asia. She has arrived with one of the members of the tribe (Luigi!) in tow and is seeking membership in this bastion of testosterone much to the dismay of the membership. Mayhem insues when Phydillida and Luigi are presented to Queen Victoria, an Irish riot occurs outside the club, and Britian declares war on the lost tribe. I won't give any more away. It's absolutely hysterical. A great evening of entertainment. At the Manhattan theater Club at City center. Sometimes on TDF. Closes JULY 21.

These posts are old, but I'll add my two cents: I saw this last week, and LOVED IT!!! One of the funniest, best acted, crisply directed farces I've seen in a long time. As they say, run, don't walk to see it.
