...But I have notticed different warning/information labels attached to the same Rx filled at different stores in the same chain (e.g., CVS).

I have most of my prescriptions filled at Target and have done so in several cities since the 1990's. They are very consistent in their labeling, which probably explains why their Clear RX packaging and labeling program has received accolades. Walgreens seems to do a good job, too. I am not particularly impressed with anything CVS has to offer.

Good to know. I'm fortunate to have good insurance & only a couple of Rx, so I haven't done much comparison shopping. But another family member with multiple expensive Rx sticks with CVS (despite various hiccups) because their prices are better for her meds. But it really does depends on which Rx you're looking at.

Poppers are always involved and I'm cool with that. However, this guy last night was huffing head cleaner from a spray bottle applied to a towel. He literally started speaking in tongues and seemed to have some sort of out-of-body experience like he was at a Church of Christ revival.

Poppers (Amyl nitrite) have been around for a while. The drug has been banned in many countries e.g. France, Singapore, Japan (just to name a few) but surprisingly you can still buy poppers legally in the US. The last deadly case was this young girl in Europe who drank the whole bottle (like one of these 5-hour energy shots) and ended up at the morgue.

Ace, that substance your client was spraying on the towel was not poppers.

Most of the poppers sold in the US & UK are butyl or isobutyl nitrite.

Actually, that's not completely true. I know that in Massachusetts (where we can get married) I can't buy poppers. They are considered a drug there. Totally surprised me.

This is correct as they changed the formula years ago. As today with most of the "synthetic drugs" where the chemical formula is changed by the hour trying to be a step ahead of the legislators. The latter can't keep up with the new synthetic drugs that come on the market every day.

My point, seeker630, was that you can't buy legally either one in the countries I mentioned above.

I think Seeker and Draker are both right. (Hi Steven Draker!!! Alas, I missed you in PS!)

Poppers are one thing... I myself don't use them, but have many clients who do. Sometimes I will say something to a client like, "hey, that's a lot of poppers you're using there... is that a normal amount for you?" IMO poppers are not inherently bad UNLESS one has high blood pressure, OR if they're mixed with cialis/viagra/levitra, OR if they're taken too many times in a session. I guess the last part of this is equivalent to a client who comes to my place and has a drink, maybe two, but much more than that and well, I don't want a drunk client any more than I want a popper-passed-out client. I have had both, although rarely. Fact is, I don't police people on everything they do, and some have imbibed too much.

Poppers in the usa are butyl nitrite. Amyl nitrite is not easy to find in this country. I think you can find amyl nitrite poppers in canada (Mark Gordon, Juan, anyone other brothers up north - have any insight with this?)

Now let's talk about Maximum Impact. This stuff is ethyl chloride... a completely different beast. I know guys who use it, but I think it can be a slippery slope. Do too much of it and you are immediately knocked out. Something like speaking in tongues can happen. Fainting, falling, disorientation - all these are byproducts of MI. Again, for the record, I myself do not use it. I have had some clients who did, not too many though. I like to know my client pretty well before I will let him or her use MI.

Whether poppers or MI, its good form for a client (or escort) to ASK the other person "Is it ok if I do poppers?" before starting in. Some guys are cool with it, others are not. Just like when people ask "can I party here?" when they want to smoke some weed or do tina - it's good manners to ask first.

Just a little historical perspective from personal knowledge. My first experience with poppers came 50 years ago, when someone snapped something and shoved it under my nose, and I thought I was going to die of a heart attack. After a couple of minutes, however, I was fine and ready to go again. A pharmacist friend explained that amyl nitrate was developed to help people with a heart condition (I later discovered that my grandfather had used it in the 1920s), but it had the side effect of loosing inhibitions and freeing the libido, so gay men who knew about them used them when having sex. They were only available by prescription from a pharmacy, but gay pharmacists like my friend often found ways to supply them to their friends, and for several years I bought them periodically. They came in small glass vials wrapped in yellow cloth, and one broke the vial ("popped" it) and sniffed until the aroma dissipated.

Fast forward to the 70s. Poppers became easier to obtain. Sex shops sold stainless steel "bullets" that one could wear around one's neck to hold the popper and make the effect last longer. I met a chemist in Holland who manufactured his own high quality amyl nitrate, and he would soak towels in it which we put over our heads for longer effects. Everyone seemed to use them, though some declined because it gave them serious headaches. I noticed that the more one used, the less effective they were for sex. I learned to use them rarely and sparingly.

Then came AIDS in the 80s, and there was a fear that some complications, particularly Kaposi's sarcoma, were a result of popper use. Suddenly there was a campaign against the use, and they became impossible to get again without a medical need. Free enterprise then gave us butyl nitrate and other legal mixtures, which were again sold in sex shops. Having used both, I can affirm that today's "poppers" in a bottle can't compare to the original.

I don't know if longterm use really does affect one's health, unless it explains that nagging pain in my back.
