I just noticed that the number of escorts listed for Chicago on Rentboy is down to 60. In the past, that number has approached 100 and was rarely less than 80.

Any ideas as to what is causing this?

I think the site just gets a little screwy sometimes. That happens in San Francisco sometimes too. Eventually the ads reappear.

Detroit (which ranges from 8 to 12) was down to 3 a couple days ago,but it came back up to 8 later that day.

That is a good possibility and good observation. I've noticed the same thing several times and always wondered what was going on as the numbers in a city dropped and then rose in a short time frame. Rent boy is a bit of a hinky at time.

Actually, I just checked without logging in, and figured out what's going on.

 

If you ask for "escorts" on the drop down you get 60, if you ask for "all" you get 78.

Not many escorts enjoy the cold weather, even though now in Chicago they have less competition and hotel prices are ridiculously cheap. Besides according to what I've heard you can visit Chicago but making a living up there is almost impossible, too many runaways kids from Midwestern farms show up there constantly. It's like Times Square the times of the Gaiety when it was called "Crime Square".
