Thanks Kevin,

Craigslist was indeed quite helpful. I think it got my website a bit of exposure as well :)

I got in touch with a few people and found some good photographers who wanted to do a trade to bulk up their portfolio. Nothing else.

I model, they shoot, I get the pictures and they get an image or two for their portfolio.

My only concern with this is that they might use these images for other things without my approval.

Would it be ridiculous to suggest writing up a contract with them?

I'm excited for the shoot to come! Thanks again, Kevin. It hadn't crossed my mind to use Craigslist. The administrators there don't care much for the likes of us these days :p

Glad it worked. And yes, I guess that's a work-around to not advertising your services on the site. You're not advertising escort services, just looking for a photographer for your website. Cute.

Technically, they're not supposed to use your pics without a model's release, which you are not going to sign. So an additional contract probably wouldn't afford you further protection. But if you get the sense that the photographer isn't one to respect your wishes, maybe he's not the best guy to be working with anyway.

Good luck with the shoots!

A specific contract is always the best way to proceed. Even if you don't sign a model's release, he can always say that was implied in your barter or exchange arrangement. Since you are not paying him for his work with you, a contract provides additional protection... if in doubt talk to some of the lawyers on this site... TomKat in particular, he is an attorney in NYC.

I'd look for a boudoir photographer in the area, and ask if they have have a promotion package - boudoir photography is pretty expensive unless you can get some sort of deal (which will get you going back to them an make referrals to them).

Also, if you contact them around Valentine's day it may take a while for them to get back to you.

Oh, and ModelMayhem is a great place to find photographers -- lots of great photographers looking for eager models. If you find a photographer that you really identify with, you could both be getting a pretty wicked deal (free-fifty)

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello all,

Reporting back from the field: Last weekend I had an excellent time working out a photo shoot. I'm quite pleased with the results.

Barry Peterson, the man I worked with was quite professional in his treatment with me. He put in a fair amount of effort to make sure we'd be a good fit- trusting him and his eye.

The trade we worked out was that I would model for him provided he could use some of the images in his portfolio.

As mentioned above, I put out a call on Craigslist. Barry was one of the first to respond.

Many other people responded to my ad but I felt most secure talking with him.

In several of the responses I received, photographers had sent me a link to their model mayhem profiles. Xander, thanks for mentioning that resource. Talking with other people about their experience using model mayhem, I've noticed that the running theme surrounds the volatility of the models there ;) It seems like if you were going that route in search for a photographer or model, you might have to sift through some BS. Luckily, Barry has a good eye and spotted me right away on CL.

I opted out of writing up a contract with Barry, because of his trustworthiness and seeming reputation.

Barry also has a model mayhem profile: http://www.modelmayhem.com/847809 He said he'd worked out similar trades before and looking at his pictures I realized I was acquainted with some of the young gentlemen he has featured there. That made me feel less uneasy about the whole kit 'n caboodle. I try to be delicate with whom I give access to unmarked images of my face.

Speaking of which, a very skilled and generous friend was able to find the time to add a watermark with my name to the original images via image editing software. (En, hartelijk bedankt nog, "mijnheer"! ;))

Thanks for allowing me the space to be a bit long winded, but perhaps this will demystify a bit of the process to finding a good photographer as a green-ish escort making steps in the right direction.

Thanks for all of your input and happy escorting!
