The Mystery of Edwin Drood

Finally got to see this new production of Rupert Homles musical (once again my original ticket was during "Sandy", the hurricane, not the dog from Annie!). A play within a play set in a Victoria Music Hall, this musical has a great score and a wonderfully talented cast. It was a fun evening of entertainment. Musical.

 

I won't be giving anything away when I say the musical is based on an unfinished novel by Charles Dickens. Since the ending was never revealed, the concept was developed to let the audience vote on who the murderer really is. It is all in good fun and the audience loved it.

 

The score is terrifc and this cast is very talented. There are a lot of puns and bad jokes but it all adds to the music hall setting.

I saw the original production when it was on Broadway. It's a fun show and I would definitely see this revival if it's still running when I'm in NYC.
