One of my cats died today at 3.30pm London time. I had shared some pictures of my cats 6 months or so back. Jazzy, died today aged almost 10 years to the day. I got her in 2002 rescued from a farm. I had her from approx 5-6 weeks old and she moved in on Christmas Eve, 24th December 2002.

She never left my side, I even have a tattoo of her on my arm. She was like a little baby, she never once showed her claws to me, or hissed at me. Every morning, she would stare at me until I was awake, then come up to my face and did kisses on the lips, something I trained her to do. She thought it was normal. You would get a little touch lip to lip, then she would lick my brow or nose, to get my scent/salty sweaty taste on her tongue which to her made her connection to me every day. At night, I would go to bed at 9pm and she would sit with me all evening watching tv and playing.

She became unwell on Friday, suddenly .... and died today from kidney failure. It was that quick. She was my precious angel. She's in front of a candle lit altar in my home tonight until I can lay her to rest tomorrow. I've lost my most special friend. She was such a lady. On Friday we had her treated at the vets but it was obvious last night there was little that could be done. I cancelled appointments last night and spent the whole night in bed with her, changing her regularly every 2 hours during the night as she became incontinent. She had a seizure and left me at 3.30pm. Kidney failure doesn't make them suffer, they just drift off as things shut down. Heartbreaking but she had a special life where she was loved on a daily basis and knew who her daddy was, never wanted for anything and lived in a home full of love.

Very sorry for your loss. She was a very lucky cat!

I've never had a pet before until a few months ago and I have quickly become attached to a degree that I never would have thought possible. I am so very sorry for your loss and I can now understand how the loss of a pet can result in so much sorrow. Take comfort, as has been said, in knowing she had a wonderful life and that you were both fortunate to have found one another. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

sorry about your cat. they had to put one of my nieces little dogs too sleep the day after thanksgiving. she has two miniature dashhounds. The female was playing 2 weeks ago and just twisted the wrong way going down some steps and was left paralyzed from the lower body down. she was on meds for 2 weeks hoping it was reduce swelling. after 2 weeks no change and her kidneys were failing. so they had to put lulu to sleep on friday.. those dogs being so long its easy to injure the back. xrays showed that she slipped or ruptured a disk..

Beyond The Rainbow

Beyond The Rainbow

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,

I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.

I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free

Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.

I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side

Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide!

And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see

Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!

My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new

And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.

I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright

That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.

'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold

And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.

For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,

We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.

So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart

If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

Breaks my heart to read this~ I can only imagine your sense of loss and pain~ I can;t assume I know completely. That is personal to you and Jazzy but, I have some sense of that and feel full compassion for both you and your pussy cat~

When at times we feel loss it is Spirit we inevitably find~ Your spirit with her is always together~

Sending hugs and gentle love,

Tyger!

Thank you everyone for your best wishes, I buried her this morning in my green fleece top which I had worn last week when bracing the elements visiting my little shop and around the house. It had her daddy's smell on it and it was a nice thing to bury her in.

I cancelled my Sunday night appointments, both of whom were very good about it, one of whom checked in on me today by email and found out that she'd died. I did the right thing spending her last evening with her, sipping wine and watching TV with her snuggled in. I've had a few days off but I will be back in full time Steve mode tomorrow because I have to get things back to normal.

That sucks man...

I've just agreed to adopt a kitten from the offspring of a domestic stray...never was a cat person. Always been allergic to them and every guy I met with a cat never seen me again after seeing me sneezing and wheezing all night.

But magically I'm not allergic to this kitten....I don't know what I'm getting into, but this one here is just too cute to turn down. He'll be my new traveling buddy for the rest of the year
