The Arts. Literature, music, theatre .... no pop music or television. But it says nothing about Movies. Are discussing those okay here? There doesn't seem to be another place on this site.

Operalover, To answer your original question, yes, posting about movies/films is okay in this Forum... Today I saw "The Life of Pi", I enjoy 3D movies... Saw the coming attractions for a few more 3D movies, "Cirque du Soleil", looks exciting. Also, "Jurassic Park" and "Hobbit" will soon be opening in 3D.

If I may be so blunt, the first thing you have to do is just stop trying to compare theater voices with film voices. And theater voices ain't what they used to be either ... afterall, they're all amplified so no one needs to be Ethel Merman anymore.

I understand your point. There's no doubt that Merman's voice was the main reason she was such a big Broadway star.

But, Merman was totally at home on Broadway, and the audience knew it the moment she walked on stage. Too bad she never did a play in New York.

In the annals of immature, bitchy, queeny, faggy, asshole shit. This one takes the cake.

Oh, calm down soap-operalover. The post was just Lucky being Lucky. I didn't notice anyone taking cake.

So, why don't you just go fuck off and get laid? You'd be less of an asshole.

Consider yourself lucky (every pun intended) that you can get away with those rule-breaking words. Clearly, the Super Moderator is not fazed. Some people get Time-Outs, others don't. Oh the fairness of it all.

As for on-topic, since the Forum is called Comedy & Tragedy, I think all forms of entertainment should be permitted here. Sorry, Lucky. I think it's just silly to keep out TV and Madonna's face-lifts when both are tragedies.

ps Well, not all TV is a tragedy. Loving Homeland, and I've already seen Season 3 of Downton Abbey. Much hype around Shirley Maclaine. Not deserved, IMO.

The "Super Moderator is not fazed"? Not so, just following the TOS.

ACTIONS OF THE MODERATOR:

1. Attacks against members will only be acted upon at the request of the member being attacked. If you are being attacked and want assistance from the moderators, use the ALERT function to notify the moderators. They will determine if some action is necessary.

"If you're not interested in what I have to say you're free to ignore but I was asked my opinion."

But you weren't giving your opinion. You prefaced the remark with "from what I'm hearing" which would be the opinions of others, perhaps insiders who really knew the score, more likely not. I considered your response to others when they give their opinions, and from those responses I assumed that since you could dish it out, well, you could take a light-hearted riposte. Apparently not.

For the record, I am not alerting the moderator(s). I know operalover's remarks were all made in good fun. hehe

(Surely nobody could really think that of me!)

If the moderator wishes to ban me, I'm fine with that. But then you'd have to ban the person who instigated a completely unprovoked, silly , and immature attack in the first place. Remember Connery in Untouchables? I never bring a knife to a gun fight.

It's just unfortunate that there aren't "ignore this member" options here like on so many blogs. It would be so much easier not to see the posts of certain people.

I loved Season 3 of Downton Abbey. I was surprised MacLaine was only in the first 2 episodes. I thought it was the best season so far. And that one episode -- you know which one I mean - I cried through most of it.

There is an embarassment of riches on TV right now ... and yes, Homeland is AWESOME!

Go to "Settings" and open option "Edit Ignore List"... Just type in the name... Hope this helps...

hummm..... Flag thrown on play; Nobody named... Boy do we have some Lucky (another pun?, how dare I?) boys flirting with fate...

So who's going to escalate and earn the time-out?

BTW: We never did find out the difference between a movie and a film! Les Mes determinately film, are we limited just to musicals?

Flag on the Play is actually a musical, not a play. It is easy to get confused, given the title of the show. Film rights are currently being discussed, with speculation that actor Bradley Cooper would play super-moderator Cooper, Ashton Kutcher as Lucky, and Justin Bieber would be...oh, I forgot, there is little room for humor here. Never mind!

As stated, if anyone has a problem and feels they are being attacked, then follow the s.o.p. and use the ALERT button. I believe that automatically sets off alarms and flashing lights at each of the moderator’s homes, conditions go to defcon 3 and the procedure is for an immediate conclave at an undisclosed location (speculation is that it is in PS, a mile beneath a mountain). I’ve heard from insiders that administrators, moderators, super moderators, supercilious moderators and daddy each board their respective private jets to go to this undisclosed location (and if by chance POTUS is already there, he is immediately kicked out). A select number of well-known escorts are also brought there, since the debates on the issue may go on for a long time. Rumor also has it that a well-known oral hygienist is there to take care of any nasty halitosis. After some preliminary discussions (such as determining if the evening’s entertainment is really a movie or a film), the discussions/debates begin in earnest about the alert. After each vote is cast to put someone on time out or not, the ballots are burned and white smoke means to bring them pizza, black smoke means bring in more escorts. Eventually after all the debate, pizza and pleasures with the escorts, everyone forgets what the original purpose was and they go home.

A Wayout Production

Wayout, A most amazing and creative story. A bit of "Skyfall", some "Flight", lots of "Breaking Dawn", parts of "Lincoln" & "Red Dawn" and let's not forget the music from "Les Mis"... You really make the working lives of Daddy's administrators and moderators sound exciting. I only wish... Btw, "S.O.P."?

Oh for goodness sake. Get a grip guys (or is that a gripe)! A Message Board full of contradicting opinions, and touchy egos, gee, that's a rarity! Anyone suggest starting a new topic called Movies/Film/TV??? Just a suggestion.

Coop...S.O.P...Standard Operating Procedure. My own personal SOP is "Go to bar. Order bourbon Manhattan on the rocks. Drink bourbon till pain subsides,...stumble into cab, go home. Deal with hangover. LOL

Had the privilege to be invited to a special preview screening of Les Miz...standing O at the end by the audience. Applause throughout for the songs. Brilliant film/movie, whatever.

IMO, guys, take a time-out and enjoy the holiday season...

I really loved Season 3; "consensus" has never much interested me :)

There is no difference between film, movies, or motion pictures. There are only good ones and bad ones.

Could be a fun gay movie, written by Alan Ball perhaps. Probably will get auctioned as a TV show, picked up by FOX. Will star RuPaul. Title changed to, "You've Got Sh-email."

Not Alan Ball. Please. If the last 2 or 3 seasons of TRUE BLOOD are any indication, that poor soul is ALL WRITTEN OUT.

In my business, we listen to all opinions.

No need to scream. Vampires don't do it for me, so I never watched True Blood. Fans seem to love it. Ball was the first gay Academy Award winner to come to mind. Feel free to insert your favorite gay writer.

Alan Ball was in no way the first gay Academy Award winner. There have been many including several open ones. Certainly one of the writers of Little Mermaid was openly gay when he won his Oscar long before Ball.

I listen to all worthy opinions. But consensus is practically meaningless to me. If 100 think something sucks and I like it that's all that really matters.
