What time of the day is "wind down time" with a beer or a glass of wine.

For me it's now (6pm London time), I will have a large glass of something white, usually french and usually dry. Whilst sipping my 6pm wine I will usually catch up with this forum, my local city's historial forum, which I am a member of, and my residents association forum to find out the local gossip plus my personal facebook to see which school friends have given birth today with their 7th child.

I won't have another drink until probably about 10pm, because I may need to call out to a hotel or a guys home but if it's a quiet evening then I will usually have a tipple or two once I know I won't be taking any more calls for the evening. If someone does happen to ring they will have to see me at my place. I don't drink and drive.

oooh proper English drink. I only buy gin or vodka in when I have guests because I get carried away with it. 3 glasses of wine is my limit.

Sometimes I have pear cyder which is delicious. I buy a Devon pear cyder, made with real Devon English pears hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm beautiful over ice and a can of it lasts me a few hours.

I was brought up by my parents to drink alcohol, they didn't encourage smoking, but my father said, there are two things you need to do in life to make a successful living for yourself, a) be able to drive and b) be sociable with your friends, colleagues and peers with a beer or a glass of wine. My father worked in a industry where deals were made in bars over a few drinks and he would never have been as successful had he been tee total.

I was always brought up with the understanding that a couple of drinks on an evening isn't going to harm anyone and can make you a more calm and understanding person.

Excellent advice. My Dad always said, "Don't trust a man who doesn't drink"

Well that has not worked for me yet, but "practice makes perfect" I always say. BTW your Devon pear cyder sounds incredible.

I have taken on the tradition of my grandfather, (a Wisconsin state senator). Even late into his 90's he would find his out of bed, make his way to the cabinet where his Courvoisier was, open the crystal bottle it was in and say, "come come come to me~" It's the sound the cognac makes when it's leaving the bottle~ He smoked cigars and cigarettes while campaigning~ He made friends and got votes while joining in brotherly ambitions~

Before bed, I go to his cabinet, (I have it), open the same crystal bottle and pour one demitasse of amber joy into the glass and sip it while looking at my wolf and pussy cat~ Thankful for the day and looking forward to the next~ My day ends around 5am PST~ I do that when I come home from travels and before I leave again~

When with Clients, if they smoke cigars or cigarettes, I enjoy the indulgence with them. If they don't I refrain, no worries. Sometimes the celebration is good food instead~ Either way we celebrate~ If they enjoy wine, I drink wine with them. If they drink something else, I enjoy a vodka frosty adult beverage with them~

Either way... they are my Courvoisier, cigar, cigarette, wine or vodka~ Sipping, imbibing and indulging together on our own personal brand of Man liqueur~ We intoxicate each other in our natural man essence~ That can be anytime of day of night~ ;-)

Mine doesn't drink...I do though.

But I knew a guy who used to drink and couldn't handle his liquor and stopped drinking, and a guy who can't currently handle his liquor and needs to stop drinking LOL.

Trust wise? No further than I can throw em...

As with all things: Moderation. Enjoy IT and manage it... Don't let IT enjoy or manage you...

I like to sit at the liquor store before going in. I see guys going in there and watch them... I see their fascination and interest in alcohol, cigars, cigarettes~ It's not all bad. It can be though. I've seen that too~

I see predominantly guys going into the liquor store~ They all have this certain look on their faces. They carry themselves a certain way~ It's like they are on some personal mission~ The people at the check out seem to understand this "Mission" and package things up for them nicely and say, "Have a good night".

It's almost a ritualistic thing for these guys perhaps...

Alcohol is a privileged occasion: like tobacco products or fatty gourmet cooking, eating in general or sex... like washing your hands too much. When people give up their responsible strength over a substance or habit, the results can be detrimental in all kinds of ways~

Sometimes they come out of it and do amazing things in life and with themselves~ Sometimes not~

Being too educated or not educated enough, being conservative or not liberal enough, being religious or not religious enough, being some particular minority or non can all succumb to personal human mispresumptuous faiths that allow someone to not take responsibility over their own life and let something/someone else take it over for them~

It's perhaps a good point to understand yourself and your own actual limitations... (healthy fear based and non fear based). We all have indulgences: understanding the healthy moderation of them and how they work for you may provide a key to success on all kinds of levels.

We are here to live... Some part of Life is about enjoying it~

I'm neither promoting drinking nor thwarting it... sex or most other things either...

There's a skill in moderating ones self indulgence with need and simple existence~

wine o'clock... Maybe wine o'clock simply means "mine o'clock": what time is mice and how do I celebrate that? There's no wrong answer~
