Naked Men in Vienna

The Leopold museum in Vienna is featuring an exposition of art featuring naked men, and it has met with controversy. As an article in the Wall Street Journal asks: "Why does the male nude get no respect?" In the accompanying article on this exhibit, they point out the historical (at times) covering up of male nude sculptures in Vatican City.

 

The exhibit, they say, will feature roughly 300 works tracing the history of male nudity in Western art. They have been met with an avalanche of complaints, the Journal says. To start, they posted 180 large posters in Vienna that showed three naked men with soccer balls. The real balls are now covered with red tape. But you can see it here:
