Is it ever appropriate to pay in advance? Advance of part of the fee (deposit)? I would like the working guys point of view. I have been burnt by very reputable escorts.

I'm not a working guy and I admit don't have an answer to this complex problem, but I would like to point out the fact that many working guys have also been burnt by reputable clients. This problem seems to be increasing lately on both sides and really needs to be addressed seriously.

You know the answer to your own question. Pay those advanced deposits if you want to be burned again and again. If they don't show up you have ABSOLUTELY no recourse, you will never see that money again, and while they might promise to make things right -- it never happens, you get excuse after excuse. The worst part of it all is the more stellar their reputation the less likely anyone will ever believe you.

I do. I ask for my train / air fare or petrol costs to be compensated in advance plus a £50 deposit. The rest is payable on arrival. I won't travel more than 80 miles without it. I've been let down by regular clients so the rule applies to all

See, In England it's not an issue to ask for that. 80 miles gets me in the middle of cowpoke nowhere. I'd basically never travel anywhere and be stuck with the ever shrinking number of new clients by staying in the same place if I required a deposit.

However, after numerous traveling in the past...I have began to ask for more deposits. Partial payments. I've gone over this before and I'm happy to discuss it again, as it pertains to my situation. But, it helps to ask for a deposit in certain cases. Such include when the client seems wayward about an appointment in another location. An incall where I'm asked to pass thru an area on my way to a destination. Or if I plan to leave a town by a certain day and the client wants to see me after my planned departure and a change of plans would inconvenience me (such as getting a hotel for an extra day that I wouldn't). All would be reasons why I'd ask for a deposit.

If it were up to me, I'd be asking every client planning to see me in a different city for $50 once I felt I had enough responses to move forward with the visit. It would be a tremendous peace of mind and would eliminate postponing trips and pre-trip anxiety wondering if the people who emailed and called are actually going to pan out. Unfortunately, it would probably put people off from booking in advance...which to me is just as important as a deposit. Also, it places a higher obligation to make the trip along with taking the blame if I don't. Because of that, I have to make tours at my discretion. Which unfortunately means I may have to postpone tours if I don't get a certain ratio of confirmations prior to leaving. I hate to annoy clients or seem unreliable, but traveling out of Denver is never a 1 day trip anywhere and I like to have a better guarantee before proceeding.

Except.......... you as the client can post a review on us working boys telling the rest of the community how you paid a 200 dollar advance and the escort no showed. We don't have such a luxury, we can't review the clients in the same way that do it to us.

I have NEVER ever let down a client who has paid a deposit in advance. You can walk into any UK branch of my bank and leave an untraceable cash deposit or if you want proof of the transaction you can make an instant payment bank to bank which will show the name of the recipient on your bank and the name of the customer on the escorts account.

Why should we, as escorts, trust someone we have never met before and pay out considerable travelling costs for an appointment that may/may not happen. Would you, in your place of work, travel from New York to LA to see a new customer who you had possibly spoken to three times and exchanged 5 gmail or hotmail account emails with. No you probably wouldn't so why should an escort be expected to do the same.

If clients are upset by the actions of escorts in this way then it's simple, book someone closer to home. Saves embarrassment on both sides.

Edward as steve said, lately this is a common problem. Asking for deposits, and whilst you may have been burnt before by some escorts. Please note that cancelation on clients behalves is hitting an all time high. I have a few friends in the escort world as well as escorting myself and I can honestly say that cancelation is becoming a big problem. Think of when you go to the doctor, you have to make an appointment,If that appointment is cancelled within so long then you have to pay a fee because that time slot was filled for you and you cancelled causing the doctor to possibly have lost other business. The same goes for escorts we do not double book, So in the event that one cancels an appointment then our income is screwed up for that day(lets say that one has a bill to pay and was relying on that two hour to pay that bill that day) also that time slot could have been filled by someone who may have not canceled and that bill or what have you may be paid. I do not believe that most escorts would take a 50$ deposit fee and run because in the long run you must think 50$ or 250$ they would be putting risk to the reputation if well reviewed by asking for a deposit and running. Understanding things come up maybe the escort got sick then that deposit should be pay paled back to you or sent back, as a measure of good faith. Sorry that you have been burnt but think of how many times an escort may have been canceled on and maybe that is why they are asking a deposit to make sure that you are serious about meeting. Think of the deposit as holding that time slot for you. Like booking a hotel room your card is on file so that they can keep your reservation and not give it to someone else.

I only ask for deposits when traveling to see someone out of town for the first time. The deposit usually comes in the form of a train ticket and is a relatively small amount.

I've never had a problem with this system.

More or less exactly the same as me. I do sometimes ask for it a second time if he's a bit flaky. It's not much to ask is it
