Had a client a few days back who said he hated them. I still had a football top on at the time and revealed my tattoo. He liked it but liked it because it was personal (it's of my cat). Got me thinking, hot or not because I am off to Turkey to visit my best friend again 2 weeks today and planned a second discreet one.

BTW. I love being fucked by tattooed men it's really sexy

My vote is "not."

I love t-shirts with interesting designs, but have I ever seen one that I would commit to wearing for the rest of my life? No.

I have a certain amount of respect for a tattoo that has a deeply personal meaning, but I'm appalled by the majority that seem to be selected impulsively from a display or book in a tattoo parlor. Or, Chinese characters tattooed on someone who has no connection or interest in asian culture or philosophy? What's up with that?

It is so interesting to me to listen to the many members here who have strong opinions about tats. I personally love them. I think they are very sexy, and really allows you to see a different dimension to the person. So many times pictures of a really hot guys will be posted, and members will say that they would find the guy sexy if he didn't have the tats. When I think just the opposite.

It seems then it is such a personal choice and really runs the range from strong like to dislike. So often I will ask a guy what a certain tattoo means, and he will tell me a rather interesting story behind the design. I guess this really is each to his own.

Tattoos are a personal thing and often times tell a story. I think they are hot and interesting. I have ink (one) and hope to find someone I like out here in Chicago (any suggestions?) and get lots more. I would love to get a full sleeve done eventually one day.

Well I was going to say welcome back and it's good to see you posting again but then I thought I'd better check to see when you got back...oops, how the hell did I miss all that??

Well, it's still nice to see you posting here again, lol. ;)

As in all things, it depends.

Personally, I love skin. Unadorned, unpainted, unpierced, lovely, healthy skin. Given that, I've seen some tats that can enhance a guy's look. It's when the tats take over that the problems start. Sometimes I see guys that are so adorned with ink you can't really see their shape. (And sometimes that's probably a good thing!)

Taste matters.

Screw clients! (literally)

OK maybe that was over the top. But I've heard this before from a client. Some clients (meaning there are plenty out there who are inked) are generally from another generation where tattoos had different meaning than they do today. So it'd almost be expected for them to think of it differently and possible abhor them.

I had a client tell me, "I would never hire an escort with any tattoos." Fair enough. But then proceeded to tell me, "I think Black guys look even worse with them". Okay...what the fuck? FYI, I'm actually considering getting some myself at some point, just need to be in the right city by the right artist to get my 1st.

I think tats are totally hot...there's no overboard to me. You can have 2 sleeves, a collar, all kinds of colors whatever. It's all about expression and meaning. Granted, gay men with tattoos of naked women or any kind of face portrait don't do it for me. Right along with names in cursive letters (tacky). I like tribal and colorful tattoos. Pretty much all my previous BF's have tattoos. One expressed himself with a lot of facial piercings.

The only drawback is men with alot of tattoos tend to be Douchebags. I love em, but a lot of em seem to have some deep down issues or prison records (no matter what race)...This guy I know goes on my laptop, types in tribal star tattoos, and then prints it out after less than 30 minutes looking online and goes and gets the tattoo on his elbow 2 weeks later. Who does that? I kind of like whatever I put on my body to have a bit more meaning and thought...they're just too permanent to make a split decision.

I saw a TV news article a few weeks back. Apparently the US has little regulation at the federal level. Mostly left to the states. Of concern is that a high percentage of the dyes and inks used have heavy metals and carcinogens in them. Apparently the safer ones are based on vegetable extracts. Adverse reactions are not uncommon so a suggestion would be to start with a small one in a relatively benign location. Use an experienced artist subject to inspection. It would also be wise to have your immunizations up to dates well before getting a tattoo - especially hepatitis B.

I do not like them--especially when the over-all effect is a poor recreation (and worse representation) of the Sistene Chapel (sp?). One small tatoo is O.K. as long as it is not overy obvious, but "body art" is quite another situation and I simply will not hire someone that is thusly decorated. I visited a wonderful massage therapist for a short while who was a solid "10", but when he got his shoulder and arm "decorated", I dropped and and moved on to someone else.

As with most things, it depends. On some it looks great and on some it scares you away. It really depends on the individual. After all, someone fell in love and married this woman-so to each his own. Oh and she is a lawyer!!

For me, no ink is best. I'll admit I don't contact any companions whose pictures show more than a minimal amount of ink. I hope its not because I'm old :) I think of a guy like the male model Max Emerson who on a scale of 0 to 10 is a 100 and think "there's no good that can come from putting ink on a body like that" :) I hear there is a way to get them removed?

Some I like, some I don't. If it flows with the lines of the body/muscles, they look good. If it's something meaningful to the person, also good. There's a guy at my gym who has the "Robin" symbol from the last couple of Joel Schumacher "Batman" movies, and I laugh thinking about how ANYONE could find those movies meaningful enough to get it tattooed on them.

I particularly don't like tattoos that are just a picture of something on someone's pec. They just look kind of plopped there, no attention to flow or aesthetics.

"Only God can judge me" is another funny one. Not funny in a good way.

which was traced by the tattooist from this picture of my cat

I love animals....nice tattoo...I bet you are a great parent :)

Some people are as loyal as animals and should procreate like bunnies :) I think we all have at least one person in our lives - grab and hold onto them!

I am comfortable with a discreet tattoo in good taste; however, I find robust "body art" daunting at best and suitable for display in an art gallery, not a restaurant.

LOL

-- this is a great response and mirrors my own thoughts. I have always had a distaste for most tattoos (and more for piercing) and find it distasteful to hire a guy who has over the top tattoos. And I find great wisdom in Deej's comments too -- it is a matter of taste. I once hired a guy without knowing he had tats, and the only way I could go through with the date was by having ALL the lights turned out, but his tats were relatively fresh, and I could even feel the outline on some parts -- ugh it was awful.

I know guys into certain scenes love this; I have never really been interested in the leather or tattooed scene... I do not mind a single discreet tattoo (like those on an arm) but when it covers the torso (fron, back, or both) and.or the legs... (and the skull??? or face?????) then I shop elsewhere. I keep pusing that Rentboy have a filter for filtering out tattoos and piercing (such as that which is on Gay Romeo)
