Did I not state "Forego his rentboy ad"? He is a graduate student and he is new to the business; the picture posted to the referenced ad is not of him. In posting the picture, he had concerns about being "exposed" as a "prostitute". And, too, the commentary of his advertisement is unrealistic in its expectations. His "home city" is Tampa, Florida. By excelntsvs' post, I can strike his name from my seasonal greeting card list without regret: go sit on the big red button, pal!

Sweet potato pie and hush my mouth! This boys are not vetting buyers of a multi-million dollar property. If I was a rentboy "doing business" in a competitive market and received an inquiry directed to my "business email" from a potentital client, I would make a reply to it in a timely manner. If I come across a rentboy, new to the business, who has a poorly conceived "business plan" and "bad" promotional literature, and, I ascertain that he is determined to pursue it, I will inform him as to the how and the why and the wheretofore of the thing from the viewpoint of "client".

I'm not a bottom, so that might hurt. In all seriousness though, I hope you understand my frustration. I don't want to just email a perfect stranger, although a "rentboy" just asking for pics, that just seems rude and not very professional on my part. And as you well know, many many escorts here complain about clients emailing them just wanting free pics. I don't want to be one of those guys...hope you understand my concern and my position.

 

I try to put myself in the position of the escort. If someone out of the blue started emailing me asking for pics, I doubt that I would even bother to respond...at any rate, hope you are well, and if I irritated you this fine Saturday morning, when we meet....drinks on me!

Yes, one in the same. I had a look at the lad "in the flesh", and, for those of you who have a preference for the "Muscle Boy" type, he is, indeed, a "dream". As by my advisement, he has no experience in the business, but, he is "eager to please". Fellatio, I think, should be his forte in the trade, although he is willing to "give it up" for a suitable client. Regretfully, he is too young for me, and, as I appreciate an athletic body of subtle musculature and admirable proportion, I prefer less "muscle" in my rentboys.

Not necessarily; in my experience, a number of established rentboys with good reputations use "comparable" pictures in their postings, Kyle Gibson being a standing example. It is sometimes indicative, that, apart from "escorting" they have "real" lives in the light of the day which preclude an association with "prostitution".

I completely agree here...I was with a very well known escort the other day, and we were casually discussing his business. I mentioned to him that I thought his pictures on Rentboy were of a VERY poor quality, and thus offered to pay for a professional photo shoot from a friend of mine who does photo shoots for a top manufacture of clothing. He respectfully declined. Surprised I asked why, and he explained that he wanted the shots to be blurry and out of focus to protect his real identity as he does have another very public day job. He was getting more escorting work than he could handle, so marketing himself with professional pictures was not a concern.

 

 

But you guys are talking about two different things. BVB is talking about a blurred or incomplete photo of the escort itself. Any viewer of the photo knows it's blurry and can decide if he has enough info to hire. Robber is talking about using a photo of someone who is comparable--and either telling the client about it or not.

 

I'd think that the two options have different implications--especially if the ad viewer assumes the photo is of the escort himself. That's because "comparable" might mean something different to the client than it does to the escort. There was one guy here when I first came in who had a thing for six-packs. He had several encounters with escorts whose torsos were not defined as those in their photos. For him, a fairly "comparable" body with more definition in the stomach would be misleading. On the other hand, a blurred or out-of-focus photo, especially with the face cropped out, wouldn't be misleading. Any potential client knows that the pictures are blurry and can decide whether the photo contains information to hire or not.

 

BTW, I'm speaking in general terms here. Robber's guy routinely sends out his real photos via email, so I can see why the comparable photos aren't an issue.
