imo I think he would do well if he did porn for one of the big company's then maybe strip at a club. A stripper with a porn career to can do very well. some guys even do porn only to build their stripping business. then if he wants to escort start out getting a few clients on the side that maybe visit the clubs to see him strip.

Having gotten to known guys who have done both, all I can say is that it is much easier to put an escorting life behind you than it is to put your porn in the past. Ultimately, you have/make the decisions on your escort career. Once you've done porn, it exists even when you wish it didn't anymore.

I think you should encourage him to pursue whichever interests him more. My limited understanding of the 'porn' market is that it rarely results in the kind of money that personal appearances and escorting can provide but that some porn performers are able to leverage their porn popularity to either enhance their escorting or to try and justify a higher entry level price.

 

From your limited description, he definitely interests me enough to at least want to learn more about him (aka he sounds like my type). Please keep me posted if he decides to post an ad.

Yes, this is the question for both escorting and porn. Although there is overlap, some guys are only good at one or the other. Porn appeals to guys who are exhibitionists; escorting appeals to guys for either the intimacy, the sex, the money, the life experience, excitment, or all of these. Some guys do well in both porn and escorting but the skills for each are completely different.

 

I get a bit nervous about a guy who is only 20 going into either of these fields, but particularly porn. The older guys in porn seem to have an understanding of what it's all about, but it seems there are so many stories of the younger guys coming to bad ends as they do porn. Porn is a competitive industry and is very much here today gone tomorrow, and I think that can be difficult with a younger guy's ego. Escorting requires some maturity too, but it also offers life experience that porn does not.

 

The porn can be useful for bragging rights as an escort, but as others have said the money is not that great. It's more about earning a credential than a paycheck. And as others have said, it will be out there forever in some form so you have to be prepared for that.

I've never understood why anyone would want to do porn since it's 1) forever and 2) see 1. The mechanics of escorting are as real or as artificial as you want them to be for the most part—and unless it's amateur porn (where he won't make a dime), making porn is about the most uncomfortable and unsexual looking activity I can imagine. I don't like being directed, and I certainly wouldn't like being directed over a multi-hour or multi-day shoot, where Viagra use is pretty much required. Tell your friend to do this: contact a director, and ask if he can sit in on a shoot because he's interested in possibly becoming an actor.

 

I imagine he will make a decision one way or the other quickly. Personally I'd try massage or escorting first.

My first thought regarding this matter is that at twenty the kid is not only green regarding the porn and escorting worlds he is just plain green. He would likely be far better off going to school and pursuing a “normal” career for a few years. Most of the outstanding escorts I have encountered have had other careers prior to entering the world of escorting.

 

Porn is a rough world and many of the guys who get into it at a very early age develop problems with alcohol and drugs. It is also true that one highest earning days in porn are ones early days. The longer ones stays in the industry the less one tends to make and the more one must to do.

 

Escorting is where the money is IF the escort has the right attitude, body, looks, and personality. To be a really great escort one must be a real “people person”. In most cases guys twenty years old simply do not have, under their belts, the life experiences that add up to making them great escorts. Sure they may be a great f—k or even a great f---ker but it takes a lot more than those two thing to make a successful escort.

I pass over escort ads commenting about being a "porn star". Probably silly but I'm intimidated having "my" date out there worldwide 24/7 displaying his amorous skills which are, invariably, far above my limited desires and talents.

 

I think your friend would be better off starting out with massage and selective escorting. He should also be encouraged to continue his formal education while he still has recent study habits. If he lets those study skills lapse very long it becomes much harder to get them going again. Study! OMG! Yes! If for no other reason then to have that wealth of knowledge that gives him the ability to carry on an intelligent conversation with his clients.

 

I always feel a little sad to see young people in porn. I think it likely common for them to be taken advantage of by their producers. And once it's posted on the internet it's out there forever.

 

And although I have no statistical basis for stating this - I also think drug abuse is more prevalent in porn than in escorting.

I think that there are many myths out there about drugs, porn, and escorting.

 

I have met escorts who got into escorting because of drugs (and homelessness). I have never been a Porn star, but I would think that these days many well known porn studios would tend to shy away from the bad publicity that open drug use could cause. I am sure there are always exceptions, but it is not 1980 anymore folks.

Seems to me your friend could try out his hand at escorting (under your very capable guidance) fairly anonymously. He would know fairly quickly whether or not the escort business is for him. On the other hand, if he jumps into porn-acting first, it's a far less anonymous adventure and once he's put it all out there online and in videos, there's no erasing it or taking it back...It's in the public domain forever. It seems to me there would be less "risks" of trying escorting first, then if he wishes to pursue a porn career in the future, that avenue is still open to him. I wish him luck.

For what it is worth, at 20 he needs to do something else besides considering a career in porn, and maybe even shy away from being an escort for awhile. Unless he is an exceptionally mature guy for 20, going into porn will mark him forever and may prevent him from having a reasonally good job later in life. Is he in college? Is he a good student? What are his other interests? He can try his hand at escorting and find out if he really has the stuff to make a living for a few years at that.... but, I don't know many escorts, if any, who are still making a living in that profession at 40, 50, 60 or 70...and at his age, he has a very long life expectancy ahead of him, and he needs to think about that too.

Great advice and ideas for your friend here. I am a well educated client. Sex with a great body is terrific. But sex with a body that can also put a coherent sentence together on a variety of topics is SO much better (and, I would think, can demand a higher fee for a longer period of years from a greater variety of clients). Something else for your friend to think about (yes, with his real head). Not to mention dealing with all the other s..t that life throws your way.

He is ALREADY getting contacts from studios and I am trying to discourage the porn stuff because of all the reasons you guys have listed. The guy is VERY INTELLIGENT and a great conversationalist. He has all the intangibles to be a great escort. For whatever reason he is NOT in college and is working a day job doing manual labor. Mikey, please stress to him that the adult entertainment is full of all sorts of liars and cheats, and they will prey on someone who is young and a newbie. You have to walk before you can run—and to jump into porn without hardening yourself to some of the pitfalls that can happen in this occupation is foolhardy at best.
