I'd entertain the idea, as long as you get something in writing or a coupon or whatever that makes sure you get what you were promised. AND, I'd make sure I got an incentive first (such as an oil change), and then we meet.

Well if you can get him to write that he'll do the work on your car in lieu of a free appointment, great! You'll get your car fixed without needing to do anything.

This could work assuming he fixes cars as well as you escort. Should he be a less than satisfactory mechanic..well then you could have a problem. I would check him out for sure....I have had mechanics botch the simplest of jobs, which then cost more money to fix the inferior work they did.
