WARNING: Implementing a 1 strike cancel rule for previous clients?

I wasn't going to talk about it, but it's starting to really stew with me. This isn't a Better Business Bureau complaint, so please not panty-knot tying.

I'm wondering if anyone follows or would follow this protocol. Basically, say you met with a client 1-3 times. Fairly new in the scheme of things. However, on the 2nd or maybe even 4th 'date' they cancel. And then subsequent appointments are also cancelled? This has been something I've been coming across a bit recently.

1 client, I met with him twice in a matter of a couple months. He seems to be a very sweet guy and we both enjoy our time together. Both times we met was for an evening. However, he cancelled 3 appointments already. One appointment, he cancelled but then we met in a public place at a later time (I was out of my local area) and he was nice enough to still give me an hour's worth of time. We were to meet couple weeks ago, that was cancelled. He gave me a pretty plausible reason though for the most part. There are future dates to be expected, non made thus far.

More recently, a client and I have met 3 times already. Last time we met was only couple weeks ago and it was an evening, so it was rather soon to re-hire I felt. However, he was coming into town. We planned all weekend to meet and then were scheduled to meet Sunday evening. At the time we were expected to meet, I get a cancellation about a meeting running late and a early meeting in the morning. Then he says, "I'll pass on this trip". (Unless it's a mountain, I detest the word 'pass' because it's pretty much like a brush off, what is there to pass? YOU ASKED ME FOR AN APPOINTMENT!) I'm almost certain he wasn't making it up, because on an overnight once, it was a late meeting and early meeting the next day but we made it work.

My thing is, these guys are making up excuses...yet despite it all, previous obstacles were not an issue. To me, it feels as if I'm being taken for granted. It also makes me feel I'm being used as backup in case some other ho cancels out. I mean, I can understand their game and that they may have schedule commitments or may want to hire other guys BUT...if you're going to choose to hire another guy, then you need to CHOOSE to trust that he'll show up. And if not, then you make the call to me. This guy basically waited til the last minute of our scheduled appointment to cancel. I ordered some mother fucking Chinese take out thinking I wouldn't have time to cook, when I could have gone to the grocery and bake lobster tails and wine in front of the fire. I also bought a bottle of Disaronno liqueur since I know he'd appreciate having a cocktail together in the event of an outcall to his hotel.

I've had several other clients do the same. And I've realized a pattern of it being mostly regulars and guys I've met once or twice. Some do it repeatedly. New clients generally get 1 chance to cancel and they can book again. But for repeats, knowing that I've 'already been had'...I suppose one has to be a bit more strict. There's 1 city I go to and 3 or 4 guys I met up with from my debut visit have asked about meetings before and during subsequent visits. It's like, every time I come to town they talk about shit but don't ever fucking do shit. It's like look, I have new clients lined up...don't play with me.

So, what's a good way to break the news to them? Shall I say, "I'm sorry we couldn't do this today, however...the cancellation has inconvenienced me and I will not be willing to see you again as a client. Thank you for you previous commitments. If you choose to book in the future, I will require 50% deposit prior to meeting. Otherwise, fuck off!"

Okay, maybe not the last part.

It happens to us all Joey and unfortunately when they're the ones paying then it's left in their hands.

I do ban repeat offenders, I especially hate guys who book in advance and then go silent on the day. It's so annoying when you might have already had personal or escorting plans, change them to suit the client to have him let you down. They don't think about what we may juggle around to accommodate them.

Getting deposits is difficult. I do for longer journeys but local guys are never going to pay a deposit, they'll just see someone else.

Unfortunatly, you cant write the script for how YOU want your clients to behave. People do have lives, and I am sure that a session with an escort is probably NOT their highest priority.

however it does not discount the fact that they should always be polite, courteous and communacative.... You can set RULES and regulations, but that will only limit your business, if that is what you truly want to do. You CAN ban repeat offenders. You have that right as to WHOM you choose to see. Joey, it seems to me that 95% of the time you are complaining about SOMETHING... This is merely an observation, not a critique. Yet, you continue to proclaim how much you LOVE your job and your work. Confusing...... You LOVE something that continually gives you grief ???? I guess its possible.... Perhaps its time to investigate OTHER lines of work ??? Its really not worth getting so stressed out about every single day... Not the way I would choose to live MY life .... Now i know you will reply that you are NOT stressing about it, and merely looking for feedback, but as an outsider looking in and listening, you SEEM stressed all the time.,

If there’s an escort I really want to see, then I make every effort to see him. If you’re getting a lot of cancellations, maybe those clients just aren’t that enthusiastic about seeing you again. At the end of an appointment, are you leaving your clients wanting more?

A friend of mine [straight] is in his mid-50's and rather high-ranking in his company. his company almost expects him to drop everything and fly to Europe on a week's notice.

I think we did better in the days of Trains - when Life moved at a slower pace.

I'm just saying, to be Devil's Advocate - especially if these guys come from out of town - anything is likely to happen. To quote Robert Burns: "The best laid schemes of Mice and Men gang aft agley".

Perhaps if someone has cancelled before, you should tell them:

"You've cancelled before, and I know that you were in a difficult situation, but last minute cancellations really hurt my business. You're welcome to call me an hour or two before you want to get together, and if I happen to be available, we can do it, but at this point, I can't afford to set aside time in my schedule for you."

After you've told them that, it's unlikely that an appointment will work out, but at least you're not closing the door completely.

I love that one! Sounds like a perfect brush off. I think I've been too nice and accommodating about cancellations. But after reading Mikey's post about the guy getting stuck in 'traffic' and finding out he was actually hiring his friend...makes me feel as it's time to put my foot down. I'm sure not all situations are like that, but I believe many more than I have realized have been like that. Not like any of these dudes in Denver have ANYTHING on me. I personally maybe 1 or 2 of them attractive enough to hire. But, the unknown can tend to be exciting.

Well, I only come to this section to let off steam. What the hell, my friends wouldn't understand nor would I want them to LOL. However, this issue is something I wanted to gather responses from others that would help me make my decision. To see whether it's too harsh, or perfect plan of action. Just gathering feedback, not complaining. 2 different things. Can you decipher?

Hmmm, I don't think so. Remember, this isn't just about any old cancellations. We're talking about guys we've met more than once and in some cases 3-4 times. I just think they don't have the money to come see me again or don't feel like spending the money to do so again. Like the 3 guys I mentioned in one of my travel cities, they talk about how hot last time was, and what they would like to do next, and when I'm coming back. But actually walking thru the door and giving me the money is a whole different thing. In fact, the guy in scenario #2 had asked me, "since I took care of you at my place couple weeks ago, do you have any specials going?" I'm thinking to myself...okay, you were interested in seeing me and we both decided it'd be easier to skip the hotel and just meet at your place plus I'm in another state. So I told him, "I can consider an offer we can both agree on...but would you be so kind to write a review." He agreed, and at that point I'd already met him on 3 different occasions so it shouldn't have been seen as me trying to 'win' a review.

Now, I do have guys who have showed 4-5 times. Guys who I've met over a period of years in some cases. Many of these cancels are like guys who've only showed maybe 1-3 times.

Your rants make you sound like an angry 60 year old waiter at Peter Lugers. Perhaps it's time for a new line of work?

I think his "rants" are clearly on topic. And I'd be surprised if other escorts don't feel the same way sometimes. The difference is that he's talking about it. I think that's potentially good for everyone.

You can put him on your ignore list.

I agree plus this is like a venting bored it's not like a persons business depends on this forum most people have never heard of this board. I doubt anything said here is going to make or break anyone's business.

I tend to slightly disagree here Jos. There are many clients on this board who DO hire the escorts that represent themselves here. Now I will ONLY speak for myself, but if I was considering hiring an escort form their presence on this board, it would not be Joey, simply because of ALL his issues. YES, while they may all be valid points, I just dont want to hear about it, and know that he has so many issues with things that to ME seem to be aspects of his job.... Most people that hire, are hiring for an escape or a fantasy. Joey makes it all seem TOO REAL LIFE....OF course, not getting my business has absolutley NO effect on Joey, but picking up a few clients from this site could be quite lucrative. IMO only !

What an exceptionally nasty thing to say.

Exceptionally nasty? Really? Many people outside of NYC have no idea what Peter Lugers is. This is hardly a barometer of one's intelligence. Nasty is : "If you choose to book in the future, I will require 50% deposit prior to meeting. Otherwise, fuck off!"

I think that this board most certainly influences the hiring of an escort, and, consequently, most escorts use that to their advantage. You don't believe that many hires come as a direct result of this board? You don't think that many would choose not to hire, based on an escorts' behavior herein? I bet you're very wrong. You may want to check in on Noah Driver and ask him how his business is doing...

Many rants are on topic, as was my reaction to it. I don't need to put anyone on an "ignore list." Unlike some, I'm very happy to debate, ponder and respond if I feel like it. I don't require censorship in my life.

Would you be comfortable with a restaurant requiring a 50% deposit upfront to guarantee your reservation? How about your dentist? Hair stylist? Accountant? Lawyer? Many businesses lose money on no show customers. It is unfortunate, yet unavoidable. When we choose to interact with the public, we must take risks. When the risks outweigh the rewards, we must make change.

LOL. This has been suggested to Joey before but he failed to follow the advice. Joey's rants come and go. Since his return after announcing he was quiting the forum, he has been fairly reasonable....but I see that starting to change again.

I am still wondering how his legal action against the Canadian immigration officials went (this was 6-10 months ago). I think I know the answer but it would be nice if he closed off that chapter for us. Anyway, sorry for the diversion from the original thread topic.

there's a large difference between this board and this site. Even the mods will tell you the majority of the traffic is on the review page. Most come to the site go to the review page research a escort read the reviews and move on without ever entering the forums. Unless it's mentioned in a review the majority don't know about it.

I agree that the majority of the traffic is on the main site. I would also suggest that the majority of the people on this board hire escorts. It's bad business to piss on your captive audience. That's why most do not.

Your statements about knowledge of Peter Luger's are insults wrapped within insults—meant to indicate that Joey is an uncultured buffoon and therefore not even savvy enough to understand he's being insulted.

Was it not? Or perhaps you have a better explanation of what you're trying to say?

I agree with Joseph on this. While posts here definitely affect hiring by readers of this board, I'd bet that, with the possible exception of a few escorts well-known on this board, most escorts' hires are by clients who do NOT read these forums (and I'm talking about the forums, not the reviews). And I find it interesting that those escorts most praised here seldom actually post (I can think of about 4 exceptions). And many of the non-escort posters here give no evidence of hiring very frequently.
