Okay, so I have been engaged in a series of texts with someone with a 202 area code who says that they want me to take a series of pics (nude, no face, one with erection) and send it to them for $___. They will pay me for the pics via PayPal, (although they suggested Western Union first (!)) and then I send them the pics.

I asked them to send me an email stating they were over 21 (hotmail—I wanted their IP address—which appears to be from Panama, not DC), which they did. Anyone else had this type of thing before?

Your contacts never cease to amaze me, however it doesn't surprise me, lol. There's some interesting folks out there. Consider this: why couldn't he just go online and google or look up some porn for free and get the exact same effect? Doesn't make sense to me and is probably a scam, but I'd definitely be careful to ensure they're of age. Also, can't they simply look at your ad, where there's plenty of pics of you to view?

Keep us posted on this one.....

Just lucky, I guess.

The Western Union thing was the tip-off—I'm assuming it's one of those scams where they will somehow try to deposit too much money in your account and then get it back blah blah blah.

Someone offering me a lot of money for pics is probably too good to be true.

Yeah, you didn't mention how much they were offering for you to take the pics & send 'em, but if it's a ridiculous amount, then I wouldn't waste my time dealing with that. The repercussions could be bad.

Yeah, it's a significant amount. I think I'll ask them if they just want to hire me and see what happens.

HA—they've offered to send me the money via FedEx, Western Union, and about twelve different ways, yet they "don't have time to meet, because their schedule is difficult." He's now bickering with me back and forth as to why it would not be possible for him to even swing by my place to hand off the cash in exchange for the CD with the pics on it.

Now I've offered to drive to him and meet him at a Starbucks (because I'm so giving)... and (wait for it) he still wants to send the money via wire. So now I'm making him buy more pics for a higher amount, which he should accept with no problem—and...he's not accepted that amount, which means there must be something about the amount he's chosen that won't around suspicion. So now I'm going to be petulant and difficult.

I'll have to lead him on for at least 3-4 more days like this before adding a filter to Gmail.

Wah-wah.

This almost sounds like a sexting sting, where I send x-rated materials across state lines and get in some nasty trouble.

Very well could be, that's some nasty stuff you don't wanna get into!

Mr. Smart you scare me do death with your background IP address check.

The Vice Squad and Secret Services have infiltrated the Panamanian Embassy in DC to get your fine ass. :p

NO NO NO... I just wanted to know if he was sending me some bullshit from overseas—I got one of those just the other day. I've never had someone actually text me with this kind of approach before... I mean, it's almost 100% a scam, but I just wonder why he chose me to try it on. That's why I wondered if anyone else had gotten something similar.

Really!!!!! Why are you playing this game? What do you expect to gain from playing it? If you are "fairly certain" it is a scam why do you care how he/it has found you? Is it really worth all your time and effort to pursue this issue? The money he is offering can't possible be worth all the worry, all the time and all the effort you are investing. Disengage and move on!!!!!

E—I knew it was a scam at the very least from the moment he sent the first text (and definitely after the whole Western Union/Fedex thing). I wanted to make sure it wasn't more than that, since there are stings that involve the distribution of porn across state lines or to people under 21. And since I was at home doing nothing but watching TV and reading about Whitney, I wanted to waste his time.

No big deal.
