Lucky makes both a very interesting and a very valid point.

The mention of Athan, however, brings back a flood of fond memories. A good number of years ago I attended an early Hooboy dinner at Numbers in West Hollywood. At that dinner I met two people who came to play a significant part of my life: Oliver (who has since become a VERY close personal friend) and Scott Adler (with whom I shared many a great sexual romp). Also in attendance and sitting next to me was Athan. I vividly remember how embarrassed I was by the fact that I simply could NOT take my eyes off of him. He was probably the physically most GORGEOUS (gorgeous NOT handsome) young man I had ever seen. He was quite shy and appeared to be totally unaware of how stunning he was. I have no idea how he looks today but I will always remember how he looked then.

Assuming any of his pictures are current, you can see how he looks by following the link I posted above.

death wish is too much thought for this one. here's another who doesn't tell his truth before pushing the bareback play.

I think he used to tell the truth. It seems to me I vaguely remember Athan admitting to certain things just before he quit advertising. Then I don't know how long his advertising stopped- was it a year or more? Then all of a sudden he popped up as Avery with nary a word said regarding his previous confession.

I also remember the same. Although I met him in the past and thought very highly of him at that time I am disappointed and saddened to see his current ad and not being forthcoming about his status (although some may argue by stating he prefers BB says all that is needed to be said)

I don't think so. Just because Lucky proclaims he's a Kristian "fan," and he thinks Kristian is "classy," doesn't make it so for everyone else out there in customer relations land.

To say that this board "works strange sometimes" is about as obvious as most of us waking with a morning erection. One man's god here is always another man's worst nightmare. And board members always have to be careful how those differences get presented.

No matter who speaks, whenever the words fan, classy, and bareback enter the discussion about escorts (and their former boyfriends), every customer should pay attention. Just because an escort's history raises important health questions doesn't mean anyone is going "negative." If we ignore unsavory information that may tell a more complete story, then how on earth are we customers supposed to protect ourselves?

Wearing a condom simply is not enough information for me.

He was probably the physically most GORGEOUS...young man I had ever seen.

Who can judge the eyesight of a horny man struck by Cupid's arrow? However, for my eyes, there simply is no evidence in those awful Rentboy photos of Avery/Athan that hyperbole and caps are warranted. To each his own.

RockHard, no one is even suggesting that Kristian is not, in fact, classy, or that I am not, in fact, a fan. To some extent, I am a fan of yours, size 40 and all! I doubt anyone would wonder why that is....except that they probably would! :)

Size 40? Have no idea what you're talking about. The number 40 does not correspond with any measurement on my body. Not even my Italian shoe size is a 40.

Sometimes, Lucky, it's impossible to know exactly what it is you're trying to say.

Did I get that wrong? I know it was a 38 and just figured that, well, you know, over time we might get a little bigger. Especially when rock hard.

yeah, but this is also the same dude who had a review submitted on him about bare backing with a client, telling him at the time he was 'ddf' and then sending a message to him after the meeting admitting he was positive. A review was submitted if memory serves. it resulted in many weeks of medication and testing for this client until he could confirm he was still negative.

When I post on this site I always have and always will speak only for myself. My statements reflect my personal opinions and mine alone – I NEVER speak for anyone else – PERIOD. Rockhard the one thing I have never been struck by is "Cupid's Arrow" and I find your comment condescending and presumptuous. Furthermore the photographs of Athan currently posted on Rentboy all appear to have been taken several years after I met the young man.

By a private message, I am not informed as to the "situation", if you will, with Athan, and, certainly, his long-time domestic relationship with Kristian which I assume would have been inclusive of BB sexual intimacy, would give me pause before considering Kristian, himself, as a "hire".

Robber- as usual I'm having trouble discerning your meaning. Did you by some chance mean to say '...I AM informed as to the "situation", if you will ...'

Because if you weren't informed- why would you have any reason to 'take a pause before considering Kristian...'?

Avery looked quite different for most of the time when he was advertising as Athan. He was very cute back then.

Not my intention to deviate from the intended topic of this thread or defend Athan/Avery in the situation alluded to however after reading the review where this is discussed (which includes a response from Athan) I would say the comment above is not completely accurate. Anyone interested in the specific review can find it by searching for "Athan" on Daddy's review site for inactive escort listings and you can make your own assessment of what happened.

Anyway, there is no indication in the review, from the client or the escort, stating ahead of time that he was specifically 'ddf'. The client stated: "I realize I did not in fact ever outright ask 'Are you HIV Positive' but he should have been forthcoming". If Athan had stated that he was 'ddf' then one could conclude that he had intentionally misled people knowing his status which is wrong (while not a lawyer I would speculate that would be criminal). While perhaps a subtle distinction between what was stated and not stated ahead of time, it is still an important difference. In this case, after reading the review and the response, it is pretty clear both the client(s) and the escort were irresponsible in their actions (although personally I would assign more "fault" to the escort for not making absolutely sure his status was known).

When I am reading the blog here, it is sometimes difficult to understand each person's experiences and history that elicits a certain response. The only facts known are that Avery is Pos and at times has been less than forthcoming in his disclosures several years ago which most of us disagree with. Secondly Kristian and Avery were partners for a period of time several years ago. Given the thread's title the notion that a partnership from several years ago should push someone away from hiring someone today is a stretch.

I am disappointed that the way Rockhard presents his post would indicate that anyone who has ever had personal relationship with anyone who has been pos is an extremely disconcerning. From personal experience my brother was in a very close relationship with a man who was pos, they were extremely close. They eventually broke up but remained close friends until his death. My brother and his current partner have been together over 17 years and never once has the thought of his past relationship been an issue. Rockhard maybe that is not the way you meant it to be presented but to me and I am just one person and I am not talking for everyone else but for me. I am disappointed you feel that Kristian should have his past relationship from several years ago held over his head.

Jimbo I know you feel your friend should be called a hero because he disclosed in his blog several years ago, the fact that “a certain escort was pos and was not disclosing that fact to his clients.” However, I feel he showed complete lack humanity and it came off as doing so for personal gain, maybe not intentionally but it did for many. If he knew his first response should have been Avery and then to Daddy. He practically has a hot line to Daddy and finally if need be to local health authorities. Disclosing these facts in a blog as he did brings back a time so called journalists rushed to press, “A Hollywood mega star is actually gay and has had a long relationship with several men in Hollywood” It also creates a panic for those who have been with Avery. Public disclosure absolutely, but the way it was done, maybe not the best way.

I know your friend, I have hired him in general I think he is really did not mean to sensationalize the subject but made an error I judgment. We all have done that, but jumping in here and sensationalizing it again and trying to exonerate your friend though the discomfort and discrediting of Kristian, is again in poor taste.

HELLO!!!! After all these years and deaths, everyone should play safe and not assume their partner is DDF; everyone should assume their partner is NOT DDF when it comes to sexual play. It is well known that a sexual partner may not know he is positive; the old "I was tested last month" phrase does not mean much if he became positive since the test.

Now repeat after me: I will play safe. I will play safe. I will play safe.
