Two odd things happened to me today in the Wonderful World Of Escortland

Part One:

 

Okay, so I felt guilty about being so irritated with the overly enthusiastic guy and decided to see him. Set up a multiple-hour appointment—he went so far as to rent a room for us to get together. He's all excited on the phone and in email, and in the back of my head I'm chanting: "please don't be a sting, please don't be a sting." Get there, and he's... flat. By "flat" I mean his reaction to everything was just... flat. He didn't like this... he didn't like that. I couldn't touch him here. Or there. No passion. And the really sad thing is that visually he was great. Great dick, great balls, great ass, delicious older businessey-type. Right up my alley. And virtually no reaction to anything I did at all.

Part Two:

 

At the risk of being vague—let's just say that Big Brother (i.e. the government) is most definitely watching the M4RN website, and I got concrete proof of that today in my inbox. And yes, I followed up on it to make sure it was legit.

Hey Max..could have been that he just wasn't feeling the chemistry. It happens..Happened to me not long ago. Everything was perfect, his face pics, the escorts website, his reviews, emails were so sweet, even a couple of phone calls were like we were old friends. I was very excited in anticipation, I get there and he opens the door and nothing, nada, zip. I felt a zero connection, can't explain why really, but everything south of the belt went to sleep. Totally not the escorts fault, he was exactly as he represented himself to be, I blamed it on myself I guess, but I just felt nothing. I think he sensed that, and was really sweet about it. I went forward with the session as I felt that he had done nothing wrong. We had in the end an "ok" time and I paid his full price, but every now and again this stuff just happens, and it usually isn't any ones fault...

Like JAG, I agree with BVB -- mostly. The excitement leading up to meeting someone for the first time can sort of overwhelm the reality when it hits. But the other possibility is that the guy isn't very experienced or really just isn't that good in bed either.

 

And you really can't just tease us like that with #2 and leave it at that. You have to tell us more.

Regarding #1: I mean, there was nothing literally from the moment I walked in the door. I've had clients who misrepresented themselves before or were less/more of a particular characteristic, but it was usually within the ballpark of the original description. I've only had one other client I can think of who portrayed himself as being excited and fun-loving and was the complete opposite when we actually met. And this guy sent me literally 3 dozen emails leading up to one meeting and now has not even acknowledged the "thank you" email I sent several days ago.

 

Regarding #2: I have to get some more information about it before I can be more specific. While Rentboy wasn't mentioned, I'm very sure all the sites are being monitored, for multiple reasons.

I think we have to assume that many websites we use are being monitored, or at least data is being compiled and being sold or handed over to any number of third parties. For example, Facebook recently formed a partnership with Politico to mine the political sentiments of Facebook users and feed the data to Politico:

Paranoid friends of mine contend that Facebook provides data to the government. I don't have proof of that but would anyone be surprised?

 

We also know that a huge aspect of Google's business model is compiling data of its users, particularly search data but also other things. A few years ago Google got in trouble for mining data from wireless networks while it trolled the roadways for its Google Maps Streetview application. A more cynical person might think that the whole Streetview operation is a ruse for data mining, but who knows.

 

Given that the escort listing sites are profit-generating enterprises, it should not be surprising if they are compiling data and feeding it to third parties, including possibly the government. The price for using the internet these days is that nobody is truly anonymous on any site and data is being compiled all over the place. Who knows who even owns some of these sites? I don't mean to sound all paranoid, but I think people also have to have their eyes open to the possibilities with all websites and be cautiously skeptical.

 

Max, if you could give us more specifics when you have them many people here would be very grateful!

I know a number of people at FB and would be very surprised if they gave out info without a subpoena. If the story got out (and it would), can you imagine what that would do to their user base and thus their stock price? Zuckerberg's bottom line would be shot, and he'd never allow that to happen.

I think it is very naive for people to think that even the posts on here not being collected and peoples identities being traced. Seriously, Daddy has the IP addresses and Daddy is pretty good in technology. I am damn sure there posters, clients and gentlemen a like who have the technical background to gather all sorts of information. People think they can hide behind annoymous names and kiosk centers but it is all there. I am utterly amazed how people are willing to talk about their personal lives so opennly on the internet. If it is electronic it can be captured plain and simple. Now hunting it down can be time consuming but I am pretty sure there is a person or two on here who has everything any of us has ever written, maybe even sorted by our names and I dont mean daddy either. That is why I do not belong to facebook, tweet or any of that other drivel.
