Wow, Max.. you in a bad mood today? Obviously, the guy making the offer is ignorant of the ways of hiring and needs a little help. Why not respond to him by saying, "I'm sorry, but the expense in driving 4 hours to see you for only an hour doesn't make economic sense for me." "If you would like to explore alternatives that make more sense for both of us, let me know." "Thanks for your inquiry."

Max is usually in a bad mood EVERY day. Hey Max, harness all that frustration and start writing your memoirs in a Tell-all tome. I am sure when you write it down and see it on paper, it really wont seem as bad as you think it is now.... In the big scheme of things in the REAL world (not the escort world) the things that seem to set you off are only minor annoyances specific to your job, and most would think they are really no big issues. Thats not to diminish their effect on you and how you see them. I'm just saying, it could be ALOT worse.

Actually I've had a great week. And yes, C-boy, I did just that. I get irritated by the same stupid shit, and I'm sorry—but it shouldn't take an act of Einstein to figger out that asking someone to drive 4 hours for an hour appointment probably doesn't make any sense.

I understand your frustration, I'm sure it gets annoying after a while. But, you have to understand that a lot of potentially great clients are beginners, they don't realize the logistics of making their dreams come true. They just read an ad, have the extra money and want to meet for an hour... that's all they're thinking about. They haven't had the experience, so they don't consider the logistics and expenses involved. They think it's like ordering pizza delivery.. get the money in your hand, make a call, and the pizza appears. LOL

Sorry C-boy—I'm not trying to be snippy or hateful, and I do see your point and I understand how the comments about milking etc could be interpreted that way. And JJ—sometimes the board serves as a place to vent. Everyone does that, including you.

BTW—I looked back in email, the guy has contacted me before and this is our prior conversation, which started 5 minutes after he sent me an email through M4RN:

"really dont remember who u are, got a pic"

"canm u resend pics"

"near ______ here looking to host, any pics to share"

"u not interested? pics?"

I agree, BUT the this client doesnt KNOW you, nor does he know what you would be willing to do. i am sure there are some escorts that need the money more than you and would certianly make the effort and trip, regardless if it made sense or not. We all need to remember that people dont always think the same as we do, and although it might be Stupid and exasperating to you to deal with these silly annoyances, they will always exists, so it doesnt pay to get all riled up over it.

I do agree that many of my posts have been negative in nature, and one of my goals this year is to try to be more positive. For this most part—this is a fun activity and I will try to remember that more often.

The client in question is not necessarily a beginner. I had a client who wanted me to drive from Vegas to Mesquite (at least an hour) and balked at an extra $50. He actually suggested some sort of government standard for cents per mile. I more or less told him to try and get someone to drive that distance for a 1-hour appointment; here's my fee and pay it or don't.

I mean for reals: how much time am I going to waste dickering over a fee?

I'd have to agree he's ignorant - 4 hours of driving would consume far more than a $20 bill in gasoline alone. Plus Max's fee divided by 5 hours wouldn't amount to more than $30/hour...

The client was referring to the rate taxpayers may use to calculate the tax- deductible costs of operating an automobile for business and other purposes. Many companies use that rate when reimbursing their employees for mileage incurred when driving a personal automobile for business purposes. In the case of the Las Vegas to Mesquite drive, Google Maps lists the distance at 85.5 miles one-way, which works out to 171 miles round-trip. Using the IRS mileage rate, the fee would be $94.91, or $44.91 more than you originally quoted. You wre offering a huge bargain, in my opinion. That being said, you should be compensated for your time. If I were a non-exempt (hourly) employee and drove two hours to attend a meeting, my employer would count those four hours as time worked and paid me for those four hours.

When I want to see a guy who lives a couple of hours away by car, I drive to him. If he can't do incalls, then I have to decide whether I want to get a hotel room or take a pass. I would not think to ask a guy to travel to me and not compensate him for doing so. You really have to ask what the hell is wrong with some of these people. Alternatively, you can skip asking and just move on.

Oh, yeah, that leads to a great line, "Sorry, honey, but you aren't in my service area. You want me, gotta pay for some transit time."

sometimes when someone asks for something unreasonable -- like driving an hour for $10 -- I sometimes say: "I need to get new pictures, because clearly the ones I have make me look like (either A.) Monty Hall (or B.) an idiot."

Of course I only respond in such a way once it's clear that we are not going to do business.
