Say an Escort announces that he has "retired." What's the impetus to take himself completely out of Daddy's Review, Rentboy adds, or list himself in the reviews as "Retired?" Funny, there have have a few that I would have been interested in my lifetime. Two of which have "disappeared" and one states the retired thing.

Thanks again, Rand

The reality of pursuing sexual prostitution as a profession is that, in "real life", it commands no prestige or respectability. Rentboys who retire and "disappear" from print are, more often than not, are making an attempt to live in the light of the day, Jaime Lee, the celebrated "East Coast Boy" being a case in point.

If he's truly retired, then I think those actions would be a public service, to prevent clients from wasting both his time and theirs. (And I suspect that rvwnds's point about temptation also comes into play.)

He might not want a prospective client or overly-enamored former client attempting to convince him to do one more session.

This. Their longtime clients probably either know their real name or know enough about them to track them down, and that could be awkward, to say the least. By labeling themselves retired they've put out the word not to get in touch with them.

There is an amusing Boston review from a bit back:

"According to Daddys Reviews, Tak (AsianboyTAK) retired in 2005. However, Tak was not familiar with Daddys Reviews, so he did not know that he had retired. "

So sometimes Daddy 'retires' the uninformed and unwilling retiree. Does Daddy have a retirement plan?
