Say an Escort announces that he has "retired." What's the impetus to take himself completely out of Daddy's Review, Rentboy adds, or list himself in the reviews as "Retired?" If he's truly retired, then I think those actions would be a public service, to prevent clients from wasting both his time and theirs. (And I suspect that rvwnds's point about temptation also comes into play.)

This. Their longtime clients probably either know their real name or know enough about them to track them down, and that could be awkward, to say the least. By labeling themselves retired they've put out the word not to get in touch with them.
