The Post, the Daily News, and even Ben Brantley of the NY Times all had bad things to say about the new musical Bonnie & Clyde. The version I saw at the LaJolla Playhouse was mediocre at best, but with a new male lead and supposedly some new music, there were hopes that this one might be a winner. Which would be odd for Frank Wildhorn, who seems to turn out loser after loser. Jeremy Jordan, the hunk brought in to replace the cute Stark Stands as Clyde, got some favorable mention, but it will be a surprise if the show lasts long in the face of the bad reviews. But then again, it only $6 million to produce, so the stakes aren't so high that it might make some money over the slow theater days ahead.

Bonnie & Clyde will close on December 30th, according to a report on playbill.com. Tickets are not being sold past that date. However: On the afternoon of Dec. 8, Jordan announced via Twitter @JeremyMJordan, "There is no truth to Bonnie and Clyde closing on December 30th. We're still fighting. It ain't over til its over, folks." A closing notice has not been posted by the producers.
