There are no harsher critics than the NY Times dance critics. The review of Haze, a dance performance by the Beijing Dance theater is outright mean. The reviewer says:

"...this insufferably decorous and unrelentingly safe 70-minute work. It is at times reminiscent, in broad strokes, of early modern-dance attempts earnestly to address sweeping societal ills.

 

But it is a dim reminder."

 

Well, count me out on that. Shirtless Chinese dancers could keep me interested for 70 minutes, and I wouldn't care if it was "next-wave' or not!
